Just finished this absolute gem of a romantasy and I'm completely obsessed! When they say "ACOTAR meets The Bachelorette," they're not kidding—and it absolutely delivers!
The story follows our heroine who finds herself unwillingly thrust into marriage trials where eight powerful Fae compete for her hand. But here's the twist: she's hiding a dangerous secret that could get her killed if discovered—she has no magic in a world where power is everything.
Can we just talk about Kade Blackthorn for a moment? This shadow-wielding, arrogant Fae with his "Little Rebel" pet name for our FMC had me swooning from his first appearance. The enemies-to-lovers tension between them is absolutely delicious, with banter that had me highlighting passages constantly!
What I loved most was how layered all the characters are. Our heroine isn't just a damsel in distress—she's wielding daggers, standing her ground, and navigating deadly political waters with a sharp mind and sharper tongue. Her anxiety representation felt authentic and added depth to her character.
The world-building is rich without being overwhelming, the marriage trials are genuinely tense and exciting, and that slow burn romance? *chef's kiss* It's the perfect balance of frustration and payoff.
If you're a fan of stabby FMCs, morally gray love interests who would burn the world down for their person, and delicious slow burn tension, this book should absolutely be on your TBR!
