This was a really hard book to rate because I really disliked the first half (I almost put the book down around the 45% mark) but when things picked up it was completely engrossing. Pretty much all of the characters start out self-absorbed and terrible, and the plot is mostly propelled by the fact that they're interacting with the person they imagine the other to be rather than seeing them as they are. But when push comes to shove and things really go nuts, both of the main characters really step up and become new women. There were parts near the end that had me gasping out loud.
