The early books in this series are really something special. Revisiting them after a number of years is a tremendous amount of fun. Great fun, fanatic storytelling, just knowing so much more greatness is to come? It's thrilling!
Liked this one better than the second book in the series. There were a few points where the science got a little too sciency for my understanding and I found myself skipping past some of the quantum stuff.
James seems to be polishing along the way and so far each book is better then the last. Not significantly better, but each is a step. You can see the series growing. On to the next.
The first time I read this, I read from morning until night and finished it in one day. Now I think ‘How did I have a whole day to just read?!' but I could honestly sit and read the whole thing in one go again if I didn't have things to do! It's totally compelling and very difficult to stop reading when you start.
I love this series more with every passing book! “Black Order” flowed so well that I easily read it in a week, which never happens to me. The climax was a bit outlandish, but one could assume that to be the case when you're dealing with quasi-non-fictional Nazi technology.
I really hope Fiona becomes a main character in the books to come as her street-rat personality really fits in well with this series.
I'll continue to say this, but if you ever find yourself yearning for an Indian Jones-type adventure with a touch of the historically bizarre, Sigma Force never fails to keep me wanting more.
