Bitter Falls

Ahh I'm sorry!! This one really didn't work for me. I feel so bad but I WILL be buying book #5.

I think this was a me issue, and not a book issue. I didn't like the increasing POV from the teens and all the teen angst. That did not interest me at ALL.

And I thought the group of bad people in the mystery/thriller aspect was all just extremely extremely generic and extremely boring. BUT other people may enjoy this one a bit more! Who knows!

Overall would still recommend this series as this was the only book that didn't work for me.

Gwen Proctor and her family have been through hell most cannot fathom. As they are slowly trying to heal their wounds and become part of the small community of Stillhouse Lake...life has other plans.

Gwen has been working as a PI and is given a 3 year old cold case regarding a college student who vanished without a clue. During the investigation she is bombarded with her past, threatened by Stillhouse Lake locals, and faced with the uncertainty of her family's safety. Will she be able to solve the cold case while making sure her family survives?

This is the 4th in the Stillhouse Lake series and man what a rush! I love everything about this series and can't wait to continue the adventure.

I was cautious going into Bitter Falls as I'd found the previous book in the series Wolfhunter River to be slightly disappointing. However, Bitter Falls completely restored my love of this series!

Gwen Proctor is now working as a Private Investigator, and her latest case finds her investigating the disappearance of Remy Landry, a college student who disappeared three years ago. Gwen is unfortunately a little too good at her job and the investigation drags her and her family into danger.

This book was an enjoyable addition to this series and Rachel Caine manages once again to keep the reader engaged and in suspense. It wasn't wholly believable Spoiler(Connor is a little bit too good at fighting for a 13 year old!), but it was fun enough that this wasn't a problem. My only gripe is with the pacing, as the climax happened during a very rushed few final chapters and there wasn't a real ‘winding down' after. I eagerly await the next installment in this series!

I was concerned that since the main story was over that the series would start to get stale, but I like where the series is going and as always this book was i n t e n s e.
Just.... WOW.
