Adorable and relatable (except for her unfortunate period of not liking cats, couldn't be me). 3.5 stolen sweaters out of 5, rounded up.
Big Mushy Happy Lump is the second comic collection from Sarah's Scribbles. They tell, with a humorous note, the daily struggles of a nerdy girl, a bit on the socially awkward side. Sarah is someone I can almost completly relate with in many levels, from her passion for books to the love/hate relationship with fashion.
The only thing I can object regarding this book is that it's too short!
The long stories in the last third of the book made me like it more. I wish there will be more of it in the next scribbles.
It was okay. I enjoyed Adulthood is a Myth a lot more, I guess I found that one more relatable. I did like that in this one she included more of her own thoughts in an essay along with the doodles.
I know now who my ever- faithful companions for life are. Meet Mister Social Anxiety and Mister Over-Thinking while Mister Crippling Lack of Self-Confidence appears in many Oscar-worthy cameos. And these gentlemen are gloriously presented by the pen of the magnificent and ridiculously talented Sarah Andersen.
I feel so connected to the wonderful character Andersen has created. The introverted, procrastinating, awkward me was constantly nodding in agreement over every sketch. It is a glorious feeling when you close a cute, little book and you discover you have a big smile on your face. And let me tell you, the world of antithesis between introverts and extroverts that Sarah has created is a very pretty, amusing, and comforting place...
.....and a little terrifying, but I have my shock-blanket just to be on the safe side...
It's Sarah's Scribbles! And there's no way this won't be somehow hysterically #relateable. While I've always enjoyed whatever scribble that pops up on my Facebook newsfeed, I've never gone looking for the motherload. This compilation is a nice place to start and damnit, I missed #1.
With thanks to Netgalley for this opportunity to give an easy 5-star.
