In Los Angeles, Victoria - a chubby little girl with ordinary looks - has always been second best to her younger sister Gracie. Clearly a disappointment to her parents, she constantly battles with a weight problem and is unable to win their approval: her academic achievements go unacknowledged. Wanting to get as far away from home as possible, she moves to New York City and finds a job as a high school teacher - amongst the sleek and slinky of Manhattan. Meanwhile, her lifeline to her family is through Gracie. Then a chance encounter starts an incredible chain of events. But can Victoria leave all the hurt behind and start a new and fulfilling future? Whatever the scales tell her however, she's determined to cherish who she is.
