I listened to the audiobook of this via Scribd because a fellow blogger and friend recommended it to me. I am fairly new to Scribd and there are so many books on there and I couldn't pick one so I asked Noriko which one she would recommend because she has listened to so many of them. She recommended 2 books and I went with this one because it was available to me at the time. Thank you so much for the recommendation Noriko.
Now I didn't end up enjoying it as much as she did but overall I thought it was an ok read. I had to sit on this review for while because when I finished it I wasn't really sure how I felt about it and honestly I'm still not really sure so lets hope I can formulate some coherent thoughts here.
This book is about an abusive relationship and it goes into detail. It was so infuriating to read about the abuse and all of the reasons the abused chose to stay. Of course I know what I would say I would do in a situation like this but honestly you never really know until you are actually in it. I think that's a part of why it infuriated me so much. Of course the actual abuse was infuriating but the fact that in my head I kept saying I would have left the first time it happened (and I would like to think I actually would) but again you never know.
About halfway through it started to get repetitive and that was annoying. It's told from 2 POV and each chapter goes between the two people. To begin with there might have been a few times where I was like I read that in the previous chapter but halfway through it was like pretty much whole chapters were repeats of the others POV and it got on my nerves.
Now lets talk about that plot twist at the end. Don't worry I'm not going to spoil anything for those who haven't read it yet. First let me just say I didn't know anything about this book aside from what the synopsis said so I didn't know what to expect going into it. I didn't see that plot twist coming at all. It never even crossed my mind so I applaud the author for that. Unfortunately this is what I am hung up on with this review. I don't know how I feel about that twist. It's not a bad plot twist it's just... ... ... IDK annoying to me for some reason.
Overall I think the author did a great job of pulling me into the story by creating a believable plot. Like I mentioned earlier this was just an ok read for me.
