The poster child for the American Dream, Lupe Perez, a former East L.A. bad girl who has escaped her unsavory background to attend school, work, and volunteer at a teen center, has turned her life around, until her professor assigns her the task of writing a thesis on what Americanization means to Mexican immigrants.
