Katrell is abused emotionally and physically by adults in her life and works to the bone trying to afford rent, food, and (perhaps subconsciously) her mother's affection. This book... there are so many sad moments as we watch Katrell injure herself in order to survive and not know when to quit because there is no guarantee things will get better.
It is very emotional and I was so nervous wondering just how far she would fall. There were some moments that seemed a bit OTT or just didn't make sense, but for the most part this is a great book. The ending is so emotional and such a relief, I teared up a bit.
The narration was fantastic. Will say, I listened to it at x2.5 in order to get through all the pain she was forced to endure, but I still thought the narrator did a great job with all the different voices.
