Anything Resembling Love

This was a rough read despite its short length. The story is about a young woman growing up and navigating a world where people extrude various creepy crawlies (centipedes, scorpions, moths) when touched in a way that makes them uncomfortable. A look at the ways women are expected to be “accommodating” in all circumstances, even painful or traumatic ones.

This was absolutely heartbreaking but also so realistic, depicting the horrors of trauma that many people experience, but instead of being allowed to process it in a healthy manner, are shamed and forced to not talk about it at all.
