When it came to subject matter, Ms. Slaughter really went dark and disturbing. Not satisfied with just having one rapist, nope, it had to be a club. A club where the participants tried to induct their offspring.
After That Night is one heck of a creepy read. It's definitely not one for the faint hearted and should really come with a trigger warning.
The only bone of contention for me is the soppy moments between Will and Sara. I get that they're crazy about each other, but less romance more dastardly deeds please.
Yet another excellent Will Trent/Sara Linton novel with the characters we love, Amanda, Faith and the rest. And of course Karin Slaughter does a fantastic job of bringing in current and timely topics to keep readers thinking and wondering about our world. Well done!
I love the Will Trent series, so my expectations going into this installment were high. That being said, it was good, but not one of my favorites. I found that it dragged some in the middle and there wasn't as much growth with the main characters and their relationships as some of her other books. It was more focused on the unraveling and solving of the crime plot.
If you are a fan, go in with reasonable expectations. It is well written and the plot is interesting.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC.
Awful, disturbing and harrowing to read, but one of the best crime thrillers I've ever read. Absolutely one of the best from Karin Slaughter and I continue to love this series.
I was beyond excited when I received this copy from NetGalley, Karin Slaughter never disappoints! This book was everything I expected, Sara and Will are both individually fascinating characters who I've followed since the beginning of both The Grant County and Will Trent series and I cannot recommend them enough. After That Night is heavy, emotional, raw and brilliantly written. I enjoyed the storyline, going back to “that night” and I can't wait to see where the series will take us next.
