Thank you to the author and Shannon from R&R Book Tours for providing me a copy of this book and allowing me to participate in the blog tour in exchange for my honest review.
I was initially drawn to this book because of its cover. I also had no clue this was a sequel until after I had already finished it. Needless to say it can be read as a standalone. I never felt confused. Everything was explained although not overly explained which is always a plus to me.
Overall I really enjoyed this book but I did have some issues with it so we will start with those so we can end on some positives.
First off I was so annoyed that Terra kept referring to Kalem as the boy from her nightmares. Now to be fair this was her inner monologue but it literally happened throughout most of the book and it started to get on my nerves. I can understand mentioning a couple of times but I get it she was dreaming about him I don't need to keep being told.
The other little issue I had was the fact that had Terra just talked to someone before it was to late all of the issues could have been avoided. I don't like when all of the conflict could have been avoided by simply talking.
Those are my only 2 issues really but even with those issues I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. Lets talk about some positives shall we.
First the characters. There's the lead female Terra who is a very strong female lead. She's equal parts a badass and can take care of her self and also flawed and needs someone to lean on sometimes but you never look at her as being weak. Then there's Kalem who is the male lead. Even though he is a Cyborg I found him to be swoon worthy. You get to see both of these characters grow throughout the book but I think Kalem's growth was the most noticeable. There are also several side characters some of which play small parts others bigger parts but I felt like all of them were fleshed out really well. There were some that I didn't really see the point in their character but it's nothing to major.
The world building was great. In the description that the author gives you I was able to picture everything so vividly. Sometimes I felt like I was right there with the characters enduring what they were enduring.
It ends on a cliffhanger and we all know how I feel about cliffhangers. Well maybe not all of us. I don't like them. I don't like being left with questions but I understand why authors have them. I will say I am left wanting to know what is in store next for these characters
