Everything in this book should’ve been in the first book. Seems unrealistic that anyone could be manipulated to this extent. To sum up the series. The father is an idiot in book one. His son is a bigger idiot in book two 🤷🏾♂️

Janie has been haunting my dreams ever since I first read the perfect child but tbh, this short story did not help the fear because I found out the only thing I fear more than child psychopaths is adult psychopaths
3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read and loved The Perfect Child even though it ended ambiguously. I was excited to see what happened after. This takes place 12/13 years after the events in The Perfect Child and Janie is all grown up and back out in the world.
I think what I needed was for this to be longer! I was getting invested and then BOOM. It ended. I did have to remind myself it was a short story but I was already so invested from the first book.
There are some things that annoyed me within the book. Mostly with Cole's reaction to everything and how he was handling things I felt were much more ... out of depth for a 12 year old?
Overall, it left me wanting more. Still happy to get some conclusions so 3 stars it is.
I was so happy to see a follow up story about Janie and the Bauers, and it's just as twisted as I expected it to be!
Although I enjoyed it, I wish it hadn't ended with Hannah/Piper killing Janie, I wanted Hannah to get her revenge in a better way. I understand her motivation was her son's life being in danger but I just wanted it to be more satisfying.
3.5 this was a 5 star up until that ending. I was actually enjoying this more than The Perfect Child. It wrapped up WAY to quick and felt like it wrapped up too early and i felt like i needed more from the story and wished it was a few pages longer!
