Whilst waiting for the publication of this book I re-read the complete Charlie Parker series. When I finished “The Wolf in Winter” I wondered just what would the future hold for Charlie. Would he leave the world of private investigation behind? Would he be a shadow of his former self? You can't keep a good man down though, and despite suffering serious injuries in the previous book Parker is back with a vengeance, stronger than ever.
This book, once picked up, was hard to put down. I felt bereft when I reached the final page, yet happy in the knowledge that Charlie Parker is still with us.

I always enjoy the Charlie Parker books, and this was no exception....but time is coming due for Connolly to stop drip feeding hints about the bigger story in the background and bring it to the fore of these novels
