Meh.
I finally finished this book after what seems like forever. (In reality, it only took me 11 days. But for someone who reads quickly, this took me a while.)
I didn't by any means hate it. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I wasn't jumping to read it at every chance I got.
Bryce is a major asshole, and I didn't think that he would be able to win me over, but his backstory softened my heart for him at the end.
Bronwyn was weak. If my significant other told me that what I was doing for my daughter wasn't good enough, I wouldn't just sit there and cry about it. Them's fightin' words.
However, she did get better once she found that backbone. & I get it, I really do. She wanted a better life for her kid, but that didn't excuse his behavior. I also didn't think that he was as apologetic as Alessandro in the 1st book either.
If I had read this a couple of years ago, this would have easily been a 4 or 5 star read, but my tastes have changed over the years. Maybe this wasn't the right time for me to read this book, who knows. Like I said, it wasn't awful & if the blurb on the back sounds intriguing, give it a go!
As for me, I will not be reading the 3rd installment of this series. I felt that I had to push myself through this book, & I hate doing that. Maybe in the future I will give it ago, but for now I have other books on my to-read shelf calling my name.
Harlequin at its best: drama, misunderstanding, wounded husband, estranged wife, lovely child: throw some money and family and voilà.
