This is one I can't make up my mind on how I feel about it. On one hand there was so much I didn't like but on the other I couldn't stop reading it once I finally got into the story. The author reached out to me asking if I would be interested in reading her debut novel and after reading the synopsis I thought it sounded like something I would be interested in.
The majority of the book is about Lottie's day to day life at work. I didn't care about everything she had to do at work I just wanted more of the romance. But the romance was a little bit of a let down as well. The hero Marcus who is Lottie's boss is a jerk and he knows it and Lottie knows it but it turns her on and just no. There were a couple instances where she said she was turned on by the way he was treating her and I just couldn't get behind that. Lottie is a strong female lead to a point. Anything having to do with Marcus she can stand up to too a point and then she melts and she just wants him so bad.
I HATE cheating and this is on me because I should have realized there was going to be cheating when I read the synopsis the first time but it didn't click. So yeah there's cheating involved and when shit hits the fan Marcus just basically leaves Lottie to deal with the backlash because you know it's all the womans fault.
The ending also felt rushed and I didn't like how Lottie forgave Marcus so easily in the end and I didn't like the reason Marcus gave for why it took him 2 years. I am just rambling at this point. There was something about it that had me glued to the page and wanting to find out what was going to happen but I can't say what that something is.
