Author Bio

Will was raised in southern Virginia and is an award-winning audiobook narrator, having performed hundreds of stories for audiences of mystery and suspense, fantasy, biography, history, romance, and more. He studied acting at Middlebury College, and has appeared Off-Broadway and in regional theater in New York and Virginia.

Will completed the first draft of his debut fantasy-adventure novel, The Tercentennial Baron, while living on his parents’ 350-year-old farm and working as an actor at Colonial Williamsburg. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he launched a career as a narrator while editing the book. After preparing the final manuscript, he decided to publish it as an independent author.

As a voice actor, Will has garnered an Audie Award (for the YA historical fiction Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys), three Voice Arts Awards, and several AudioFile Magazine Earphones Awards. He has been nominated for more Audie and Voice Arts Awards, and has been listed multiple times in Audible.com’s and AudioFile Magazine’s Best of the Year compilations. As a writer, he spent years researching Scottish history, culture, and folklore to complete The Tercentennial Baron, honing the manuscript in three different states and five different homes before publishing it. He is currently working toward the publication of a new organized crime novel.

Due to the intensity and isolation of his recording schedule, and his lifelong struggle with clinical depression, Will became very attuned to the mental health risks of being a full-time narrator. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he founded the Narrator Alliance, a support group for audiobook readers that provides a safe space to talk honestly about the challenges and joys of the business. More information can be found at narratoralliance.org.

Will moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2020, where he continues to record, write, and act. He is married to actress and narrator January LaVoy, and when not in the studio they love to roam their city sampling food and cocktails… as well as curling up by the fire with their cat, August Wilson.
