Maya Ameyaw

Maya Ameyaw is a Ghanaian-Canadian author whose young adult novels explore themes of mental health, identity, and the healing power of art. A former bookseller, she is now the Program Lead at InkWell Writing Workshops and has helped in curating and editing a number of anthologies.

Her debut novel, When It All Syncs Up (Annick Press, 2023) received starred reviews from School Library Journal and Kirkus and was a winner of Kirkus Best Young Adult Books of 2024, the Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Best Books for Kids & Teens, and The List by TPL Teens (Toronto Public Library.) Her second novel, Under All the Lights (Annick Press and Penguin Random House Audio, 2024) was featured as one of CBC Books’ Most Anticipated of Fall 2024 and received a starred review from Booklist. Her third novel Spiraling Out will be published by Annick Press in 2026.
