He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1932. He allegedly declined knighthood but was awarded the O.M. (Order of Merit) in the 1929 King's Birthday Honours List for his services to literature. He died on January 31, 1933 in Grove Lodge, Hampshire, England.
