Inori

Inori. (いのり。) is a Japanese novelist and the author of I'm in Love with the Villainess, a web light novel which has been adapted into a manga and animated series to critical acclaim. She also authored the She's So Cheeky for a Commoner spin-off light novel series of the original I'm in Love with the Villainess series, as well as The Girl Who Wants to Be a Hero and The Girl Who Should Be a Hero .

Inori began writing light novels as a hobby, primarily influenced by writers like Saeki Shinobu, despite their drastic differences in style. Other influences in her style include Bokuto Uno, Enomiya Yu, and Teren Mikami. She has described her success as "rather accidental", given she had been taking care of her parents while unemployed.

I'm in Love with the Villainess is her debut novel, however she has also written scripts for tabletop role-playing games. She has based the main protagonist Rae Taylor in part on her partner Aki, who would suggest that she continue the idea as a full story. She published the story as a light novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō starting in 2018. It gathered much more fanfare overseas than it did in Japan, even through its first e-book publication in Japan.
