Vivid
Evoked strong emotions during the read. Very different from other slave narratives, but just as intense. Easy to read and understand.
So Good!
There were so many twists and turns in this book that kept me interested the entire time. Written so beautifully, too.
Review
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this at first (a lot of “technology is bad blah, blah, blah” in the book), but this was a great thriller/mystical book. A lot of twists I couldn't see coming and then when I figured out the pattern, was still happy to see come through.
A MASTERPIECE. A MUCH NEEDED ADDITION TO THE SAGA. EDWARD IS MY FAVORITE CREEP. I WISH WE HAD HIS PERSPECTIVE FOR EVERY BOOK.
Took me a while to read through because I read it in between various book club titles! But that doesn't mean it wasn't thrilling, engaging, and just all around important. Trigger warning for sexual assault descriptions throughout the book.
Had a fun time on this wild ride but was def hoping for more!!! Probably more like a 3.5 than a solid 4.
Such a fun, creative read! Perfect for Halloween season. Well-written conflict and resolution.
Interesting but Disjointed
I did enjoy reading this book and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys heavy focus on characters over plot. A little bit disjointed, but I like seeing things from the three different perspectives of Adam, Jane, and Jonathan.
Problematic as ever but do I care at this point? No. Give me MORE TEENAGE VAMPIRE ROMANCE. Now time to dive into the 658 page masterpiece that is Midnight Sun.
I listened to the audiobook (for time's sake— had to finish it in a short amount of time for a book club meeting). So fair warning in case some people have varying opinions depending on what medium they consumed the story in.
I find that there are a lot of unanswered questions, which I suppose is kind of the point of the book. It's impossible to go through life (especially adolescence) with all the answers. Martin's play didn't even have all the answers as to whether the male and female characters were related or lovers.
I would've liked to learn more about Sarah's pregnancy. I enjoyed the book most when it was from her point of view. But I think pregnancy was an interesting way to connect Sarah to Karen, and then to show us even more about them through Karen's daughter.
Overall, I did enjoy listening to this book, and it kept my attention, but it isn't something that I'll be thinking about for days and weeks to come.
Overall, a very intriguing read with creative characters and settings! It was a bit difficult for me to visualize the orogeny but maybe over time, throughout the series, it gets easier. Very interesting way to converge three stories into one!
Great anthological graphic novel that shows the strength and humor of women. Love that it doesn't just focus on cis women.
Really interesting and important read. Gives a deep dive on power, money, and what it really means to be a philanthropist.
I'm glad I was able to see what Blade Runner (1982) was based off of. It was an interesting premise, like the movie, but equally as problematic. Why would Rick describe Rachel as being almost child-like and then still sleep with her? I would've liked to see a bit more world building in the book, too.
Super fun and quick graphic novel that touches on consent and the importance of letting others live freely.
One of the most intriguing books I've read in a while! The study pulled me in and I loved the characters.
Fun and captivating.
Agatha Christie is back at it again with keeping readers on their toes. A fun red with a twist ending!
I've read a lot of Louise Erdrich's fiction texts, and this nonfiction text was probably my least favorite of them all. It didn't capture my interest as much as I was hoping it would, but I am also not a parent.
So vivid and captivating
This book kept my attention from start to finish. Butler did an excellent job, as usual, making us care about the protagonist and submerging us in the story.
