What I liked:

  • William of Orange
  • mystery wasn`t bad

What I didn`t like:

  • "humorous" narrative. I don`t find funny that some women are illiterate in 17th century or that a middle-aged woman is not thin.
  • MC`s "great romance story": he lusted after her, she didn`t suspect anything

What I liked:

  • main character is intelligent and competent
  • his depression resonated with me
  • paper work and data analysis done by clerks was important for investigation

What I didn`t like:

  • that MC considered romantic relationship with 17-years old girl

What I liked:

  • main character
  • to learn more about Templar knights` life

What I didn`t like:

  • too many points of view. There is no need for so many to tell this story
  • side character`s romance, I`d like a more detailed investigation instead

Liked: Malachi, Viktor, all twists and turns and intrigues.

Didn't like: Melanna, romance.

It's strange but I think this book should be longer. Too much characters and so many events and I needed more substance and breather episodes.

Interesting mystery and intrigue with twists and turns. But characters are mostly shallow and boring and there is a lot of unnecessary romance. It seems that men and women cannot communicate with each other without falling in love.

Fun quick read with shallow characters (though I liked the friendship) and plot which moves with rule of cool, not logic.

Liked: characters; Central Europe-like setting is refreshing

Didn`t like: to many chopped hands

Liked: atmosphere, exploration, mystery

Didn`t like: unoriginal romance (two characters of oposite sexes and straight orientation can`t travel together without falling in love. Again). Characters felt shallow.

I think this series should`ve ended on the fourth book. Not enough military action, adventures and intrigues, too much romance and family drama.

The second book about the veteran of magical wars (some fifty years ago) who with his squire and pages investigates serial murder of boys.

Disliked: romance, some plotholes

Liked: postapocalyptic fantasy world, situations with no good solutions, Fetch suffering.

Disliked: very slow start

Liked: Daniel's relationship with Bran, sense of comfort (yeah, in a horror book)

Didn't like: Deus ex machina

Very annoing I-am-not-like-other-girls heroine, but everyone likes her because she can kick asses. And I`m tired of the trope “good military leader=very good with sword”.
