A perfect mix of sweet and spicy!
What did I just read? Perfection. I originally thought this was going to be over-hyped and I wouldn't like it. HA. Jokes on me. Sean is seriously the most perfect man. Intelligent (even if his views are a little out there), sweet, caring and spicy! He's almost too good to be true. Dom is broody, and grumpy most of the time, but as the book continues we see a bit more about him that shows that underneath all those walls is a man who just wants to feel loved.
Cecelia, while trying to figure her life out, has wound up between these two men and holy Hannah. I'm so intrigued and I need to continue!
Utterly broken.
I don't think Ill be able to fully recover from this one. Such a beautiful book, but so damn heartbreaking.
That cliffy!
Tate James really knows how to keep her readers reading! I cannot wait to pick up the next book! Who?! What?! I love it so much!
Queen of cliffhangers
The plot twists and guessing just keeps me completely hooked in this series. Let alone the STEAM. Loving this series!
I don't have any triggers but I encourage you to look them up if you have any. This book crosses lines I didn't know existed.
That said, I found it was very slow and just didn't hit the punch for me. I loved the premise of it and absolutely loved how many times I said “WTF?!?!”, but I found myself falling asleep and being bored by a lot of the material that was in the book.
This is my first read by Anna Doe, and I am not disappointed! This college romance had me in my feels, and trying to figure out the mystery of Mason. These two main characters have been through a lot but somehow they persevered and their relationship flourished. The only part I wasn't the biggest fan of was the “insta-love” theme in both the prequel and in Kiss To Remember, as one date doesn't make you fall in love.... But I love how it turned out and the story that followed. It kept me on my toes and I kept yelling at Mason to stop being a stupid boy! In the end he came through though! 4/5 stars!
Couldn't put this down! The story had me angry, and happy, and sad. All of the emotions! I don't normally rate 5 stars, but this one deserved it!
So I'm about 50% into this book...and I can already tell I have a few problems with it. I'm Canadian... so some of the things mentioned kind of irk me. Like... How has Gavin's friends from Vancouver not seen freezing temperatures? Hell, the west coast got more snow than Ottawa did last year... Vancouver gets cold...Canada's temperatures and climate are completely different to that of the United States, something to keep in mind. Guaranteed his friend already owns a toque (LOL).
There are some other smaller problems I have with the book, that frankly aren't really worth mentioning, other than I highly doubt the intern has that much pull in the office of the PM...
But it's a decent book in other areas. I'll consider it a one-time read.
4 beautiful stars!
Short Review:
I loved the progression of the characters living in the world of F1 racing. Maya and Noah are absolutely beautiful together, very electrifying. I can't wait to read about the other characters stories as they added so much into this book! I love Lauren Asher and she nailed it!
Kings of Quarantine
WOW WOW WOW.
I did not think I was going to like this book, given the world situation, but WOW. I'm hooked!!!! This book is more about world-building and getting to know our main characters.
Let's start with Tatum:
Tatum is this strong young woman who is put through hell after news of her father breaks out on campus. As the new girl, all she wanted was to fit in, but she found herself on the wrong side of the Night Keepers. These brutal boys are relentless and she finds an unsuspecting friend in her teacher.
Mr. Monroe has his own beef with the Night Keepers, and he wants to bring them down. For some reason he feels incredibly drawn to the new girl and enjoys the way she pushes back.
Saint is probably my least favourite character just because he's so OTT. He's ruthless, heartless, and has no remorse. He's insanely brutal.
Blake is a charming kid who lost his mom and is going through incredible amounts of grief. He is the party hardy kid - until he gets news that changes how he feels about Tatum. It's now his life goal to destroy her.
Kyan is my favourite. He's got a sense of humour hidden behind his bad boy self and all he wants is to feel love. He enjoys fighting as a past time and once he gets wind that Tatum is trained in martial arts, his attraction to her gets stronger.
By the end of this book they are bound together through events that I will not spoil, and I cannot wait to get into book #2.
Bad Influence -
⭐⭐⭐
I'm going to start this one by saying I LOVED the characters. Jess and Allie were great MCs and I'm so, so happy to have read their book - however, I found the story of “them” to be lacking. There were moments that it was so good, and moments where I was bored, which made me sad because I was expecting this amazing book because I LOVED Jess in Bad Intentions. It was a great read, quick and easy, but if you're looking for “more” you won't find it here. But, I do love Jess and Allie...those two together are
Lovely hockey romance!
Axel and Langley are super sweet. A marriage of convenience meets sports romance, this was amazing! The right amount of heat, the right amount of sweetness. I loved how Axel became the perfect partner by lifting Langley up, and showing her it was okay to have love and a career. Definitely a great start to the series!
Cute Best Friend's to Lover's
Best friend's Colin and Kirby decide to take a spontaneous trip to Las Vegas after drinking a little too much and kissing. Deciding to make the best of the week they decide some benefits to their friendship wouldn't be a bad idea. A series of, rather unfortunate, events ends up with the both of them realizing their love for each other.
A very quick read, the whole book is told over the period of about 48 hours, with the epilogue a few months later. The banter of the characters and their comfortability around each other make this a really fun read. Highly suggest this one!
5 beautifully heartbreaking stars.
I've never read a book so full of emotion, from the very first page, right up until the last. I went into this book blind, it was a recommendation, and sometimes I like to read books without any hint of what's going to be inside. I fell in love. I could not, and refused, to put this book down. It has instantly become my favourite, and I spent the final 2 hours of reading, going through Kleenex after Kleenex. I was brought to tears so often throughout the book, but the final 2 hours left me a complete mess. My boyfriend came home and wondered why I was lying in bed crying lol. It was so beautiful. Thank you B.N Toler, for writing such a beautifully heartbreaking love story <3
I got absolutely lost in the story of Miller and Violet. Such a beautiful love story between two people who were clearly meant to be together. Meeting at 13 and falling in love of the course of 7 years...I never imagined how things would turn out, the story kept me wanting to read more and more.
I absolutely love anything written by Emma Scott, so it really comes as no surprise that I loved this book just as much! Highly recommend this one!
Spoilers
I wanted to like this... I really did.
I've been wanting to read this series for a while now, it's come highly recommended by quite a few people in my book groups...but I have no idea why.
The plot was terrible.
The writing was terrible.
I literally felt like the entire thing was written by a 12 year old.
This book is about Mason's life. His cheating father, his mother who lived with it until Mason's father decided to love someone else, his brother who is spiralling out of control, and Mason figuring out how to protect him. It all sounds good...in theory.
There is A LOT of angst. A LOT of drama. A lot of pointless conversations. I feel like this book served no real purpose.
Bullying, inappropriate comments from teachers, dialogue that's unrealistic. These boys need a slap upside the head. In the beginning I though that maybe Logan was a small 8 year old, not a 15 year old... The way the characters acted lacked maturity and responsibility was unbelievable.
As if that wasn't enough... the amount of underage drinking and sex had me rolling. I totally understand, I was a teenager once... Hormones, peer pressure, all of it, I understand. However, this was completely blown out... Probably would have been suited for new adult and not YA.
The amount of time jumps in the book were so hard to follow... At the end I though only a year passed, but apparently it had been “years”. I couldn't follow the story.
This was the first book I've read by Tijan, and it will likely be the last. I was looking forward to Fallen Crest High because it was so highly recommended, yeah...not looking forward to it now.
Kristen Callihan has a way of writing quippy humor and I love it. The way Macon and Delilah bicker has me in love with these characters. I loved the progression of their story, and their slow burn. Definitely recommend reading this one!
Great intro!
Great intro novel into the series! I am curious to see how the rest plays out. There are lots of mysteries to unfold!!
