This book was unexpectedly amazing. I loved the depiction of female friendship, of the artistic world (not the glamorous side, but the one that always stays hidden) and so much more! This was an easy and enticing read which I properly enjoyed. Highly recommend this one!

A pleasant, but not very impressionable read to have on a long winter evening with tea and a blanket. Nothing too unique or genius, just a simple story, elements of which I surely saw many times in different books. But I can't really say anything bad or particularly good about this one. Enjoyed it, just not too much for it to be memorable.

That was seriously amazing. This book sneaks up on you. In the beginning I found it a little boring and didn't empathise with the characters at all. But then it picked up the pace alongside the upcoming Katrina, and I was mesmerised and hooked by it, so much so that I genuinely cried at the ending. It was very cathartic and heartbreaking, but nevertheless I didn't find it overly depressing or dark. There were really disgusting scenes that were written so vividly I wanted to put the book down, but once I got into it, it stopped bothering me that much.

It has very diverse and complex characters and amazing language on top of all that. Definitely a favourite.

That was really powerful, inspiring and honest. I love her poetry and the themes she is covering, but the parts about obsessive love and romanticizing it felt a bit overdone and wrong to me. But, generally, I'm not a fan of the “my only love till death” and “I live only for you” tropes, so that's just not my cup of tea. Everything else, especially the parts about motherhood and self-love, was amazing and on point. Loved it!

Unfortunately, didn't like it as much as I wanted to. This book while trying to make diversity its core purpose, manages only to enforce labels even more and make characters seem like the only thing that matters about them is their “special thing”. That's why it didn't ring true to me and actually sometimes annoyed me to no end. I want to read about interesting characters and intriguing plots, not about labels. Maybe it would have been done better in a longer form, but here it's the main focus and it's too straightforward.
I liked two previous books so much more. It's a bit disappointing after having waited for the new book for some time.

I am in love with Ward's stories and the way she tells them so eloquently and honestly. This one was not as heartbreaking as “Salvage the Bones” was, but it was still raw, emotional and gripping.
I will be anxiously waiting for more books, now that I've finished the third one.

Well, that was awesome, though not without fault. Props to the writer for really complex and interesting female characters and unbelievable plot-twists that made me stay up at night reading.

The ending broke my heart but made perfect sense, which was almost worse. Impatiently waiting for the next book to find out Baru's next level story. It should be so much fun!
