I enjoyed it, but it didn't touch me as it did with other people - maybe because I was already very familiar with the Trojan war and the story of Achilles and Patroclus? Who knows... But I loved the writing style, the feelings I got while reading the book and the story overall. If you're a fan of Greek mythology, this is a perfect book for you.
Ali Hazelwood does it again - she wrote one of my favorite rom-coms. As a woman in STEM myself, I LOVE reading her books so much. A stunning book with a beautiful story, I loved it, it made me laugh out loud and it was so enjoyable to read!
I've missed these characters so much and this book made me really consider re-reading The Mortal Instruments. I cried so much while reading this book because I got emotional every time a dear character was mentioned (like the one and only Will Herondale). Cassandra Clare has created such an incredible world and I will forever be grateful for her.
Ending a book like that without having the next book out should be ILLEGAL. My feelings are not okay, my eyes are not ok. I AM NOT OKAY.
Cassie, why do you keep doing this to us? It's cruel.
I've literally just put the book down after I finished it and then I came here to write this all-over-the-place review, because I feel like I should express myself RIGHT NOW. Okay, so let's start.
First of all, I HATE HATE HATE Grace. I don't care that her mother (or adoptive mother, anyway) was manipulating her in some ways, she had a choice and she didn't make the right choice. She didn't leave James alone, she didn't understand how bad it would be to bring her brother back to life. She dragged everyone into her freaking mess and I wanted to strangle her multiple times throughout this book.
Second of all, am I the only person who's not AT ALL a fan of Jesse + Lucie? I didn't like them in Chain of Gold, I didn't like them in Chain of Iron either. I just don't like their relationship, I don't like that it made Lucie hide things even from Cordelia, who was supposed to be her parabatai and the person closest to her. And she even allied with Grace? I mean, what the hell? NO.
And can we talk about Matthew and his feelings for Cordelia? I mean... was this really necessary? We've already had this in The Infernal Devices: parabatai falling in love with the same girl, why do we have to go through this AGAIN? I really hope that Cordelia will understand what James has gone through and that she will accept him back in her life and that they will live happy ever after, because I am going to lose my mind if she ends up with Matthew. I just don't see it, I can't picture them together like I do with Daisy and James. They're perfect for each other.
AND OH MY GOD THE MISCOMMUNICATION IN THIS BOOK WAS DRIVING ME NUTSSSSSSSSSSS
Cordelia and James not being able to communicate with each other, not telling each other their feelings this was so cruel and annoying and SO REAL, I mean these things do happen in real life. They happened to me, and it's so painful seeing these characters go through this. My heart hurts, my eyes shedding never ending tears. I just want them to sit down and TALK about their feelings and stop assuming that the other doesn't love them back. I just hope that this will hapen in Chain of Thorns and that they'll finally be together. WE NEED THIS, CASSIE, OK???
The Spanish Love Deception wasn't my favorite book, I found it a little bit too overhyped and I didn't understand why everyone loved it so much. But I decided to give The American Roommate Experiment a chance and I absolutely loved it, I devoured this book, I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with Lucas and Rosie and their fun relationship that went from friends to lovers.
This was such a cute read! Brave is one of my favorite Disney movies and Merida is my favorite Disney princess, so I was really excited when I found out about this book following Merida's story.
4.5 stars
This was an awesome read, fast-paced and really interesting. I loved the whole idea of the magic system in this book and how every Moria had their own power.
The characters are pretty nice, there were some plot twists that I didn't expect, but I figured out the biggest one of them and it kinda ruined the ending for me, but I'm not mad about it.
It's a good book overall if you want a light fantasy read.
This was an okay book. There were things that I loved about it, like the whole idea of the creepy, secret society called the Red Court that did all the dirty work for the students of Heller High for a price. There were also things I didn't like at all, like the fact that the plot twist could've been SO MUCH BETTER. It didn't surprise me at all and didn't leave me speechless, which I think is the point of a great plot-twist. I was also really disappointed in Ember and Chase's relationship that was left hanging at the end. I wish there was more to their story, because I really liked the dynamic between the two of them.
I really loved this book. It's amazing. It actually made cry and I don't usually cry while reading books. It's really emotional.
This book was WAY better than I expected it to be. I wasn't impressed after the first book, but this one made me fall in love with the characters and care about them. I was excepting a fun, contemporary read from this series but I got some really deep topics (please check out the trigger warnings!!) and some very complex characters.
I can't wait to read the next one and see where the Foxes are headed.
This book deserves way more than just 5 stars - It's incredible. I loved the story so much and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. The main characters, Iris and Roman, go from being rivals (or “enemies”) to being lovers. Don't we all love that trope?
EXCUSE ME, WHAT DID I JUST READ?
I was trying so hard to figure it out. Who killed Gabriel? Was it truly Alicia? But why?
I never would have imagined the story going the way that it did. I'm shocked. What an amazing book.
Wow!!! This book was something. I loved it, I couldn't put it down. It was really good and I definitely did not expect THAT to happen
This was such a cute read! Now I need to try to Monster Cake or the So Sorry Blondies.
First let me tell you something: I have an exam in 2 days. And guess what I did? I stayed up late reading this book, then I woke up and instead of studying I KEPT READING. This book was amazing, I just couldn't put it down and that's a really good sign. I just wanted to see what was going to happen. I regret NOTHING.
“I want a life with you, Alessandra, one without the shadows between us.”
Spoiler I fell in love with Kallias and Alessandra. Oh my god, they make such a good pair! They're made for each other and I love that they overcame their insecurities (mostly Kallias) and they took the chance to be together.
The whole story is so well written, I loved the pace and I just felt like I was part of their world. And that final plot twist about Leandros... oh well. I kinda never liked him for Alessandra, he was a little bit annoying and it was shady that he kept approaching her when he knew that she was promised to the king. Anyway, I liked him that one night when he gave Alessandra the fun she deserved and that punch she also deserved (sorry, but at the beginning I thought her plan was really stupid and the fact that she wanted to kill the king and get the kingdom for herself... nope).
I loved the ending of the book and I'm so happy they stayed together, even if at some point I was pretty sure that she was going to follow her plan and kill him in the end, even if she started to fall in love with him. That would have been really nasty though and I would have been REALLY, REALLY mad. But fortunately that didn't happen.
All in all, this story was so beautiful and magical and this book definitely deserves 5 stars!
ONLY 5 STARS? This book deserves more. It was INCREDIBLE. I think I might have a new favouritr trilogy.
This book was so beautiful that it left me crying because it ended. This hasn't happened to me in a long time. I'm going to have a HUGE book hangover after this masterpiece. Everyone needs to read this, it's too good to be true.
Stephanie Garber, you're amazing! This book has everything you need: love, friendship, family, betrayal, hate, joy. It makes you feel every possible feeling, it's so magical and beautiful. I definitely need to read these books again.
Oh, and I did absolutely fall in love with Donatella Dragna. She's awesome.
A book perfect for the enemies to lovers enthusiasts (which I am, of course)! This is my first book that revolves around a siren and I found it really interesting, especially the descriptions of the sirens and the mermaids.
I didn't particularly connect with either Lira or Elian, but I liked their stories and their evolution (especially Lira's). From a girl that used to do whatever her evil mother asked and from being the Princes' Bane, whom everyone feared, Lira becomes an amazing person because she decides to fight for what she wants, not what her mother wants. Her journey is inspiring and beautiful.
It's a quick and good read, however I won't give it 5 stars just because I don't feel like loved it that much, I just really liked it.
This one was better than the first book, especially because I loved seeing Alosa grow into such a beautiful person. From being the daughter of the Pirate King, Alosa turns into the daughter of the Siren Queen and she turns against her father after discovering an awful secret he has kept from her all her life.
Racing for their lives and the treasure that awaits them on Isla de Canta, the Ava-lee crew have the Pirate's king fleet at their back and the gorgeous, but brutal sirens waiting for them on the island. Alosa has to make some tough decisions throughout the book and they're affecting her, but she is strong and she doesn't let the pain overcome her.
ALSO, I NEED MORE ALOSA AND RIDEN MOMENTS. I love everything about their relationship, how they try to avoid each other and bury their feelings, how they're always at each other's neck and pretend not to care, I love their banter and their fights, their cute moments. It's definitely a slow burn romance and I just wanted to scream “KISS ALREADY” at them, even though they couldn't hear me. I needed them together AND THEY NEEDED IT TOO, but they were too proud to admit it.
All in all, this was an amazing book and I'm really excited now to read more of Tricia's work (btw, definitely read The Shadows Between Us if you haven't already), because she has an incredible writing style!
Gosh, I love Alosa. Such a strong and amazing character, I love the fact that she knows her strength and she doesn't let any man take her down. She is the Daughter of the Pirate King and she is not afraid to fight for her dreams: that one day she may become the Queen of the Ocean, when her father's reign will end.
There's a lot happening in this book and I enjoyed reading something set at sea. There's a lot of talk about pirates, ships, the ocean, sirens and I loved reading about them, especially since Tricia's writing style is so lovely! What I loved the most was Alosa's sarcasm and wit, she is such a funny character that can't shut up, even when it would be better for her. I can relate to that
I loved it almost as much as Caraval. At first I did not like it that much because we don't see Scarlett as the main character, we have Tella instead and she is very different from Scarlett. She grew on me and I ended up loving her.
This is such an interesting and intriguing book, you can feel the magic in it, it makes you want to keep reading and reading. It's so good because as the characters, you end up having the same problem. You don't know what is real and what is part of the game.
Jay Kristoff, you did it AGAIN!
“That's the power of words: twenty six little letters can paint a whole universe.”
And my, oh my, what a universe Jay Kristoff has painted withing this amazing book.
This book was full of amazing things. From the plot twists, to the development of the characters, to the way in which it is written. I cried, I laughed, I was really mad and I was really happy. Even though the ending left me speechless and I cannot wait to dive into Darkdawn and see what happens next.
“Godsgrave” is a really great book and if you've read Nevernight, I highly suggest to read this one FASTER, because you need to see what Mia does in this one. How amazing she is, how strong, how beautiful. At some point I really thought I was going to HATE her, but then Jay Kristoff did me dirty, oh yes.
Absolutely great book! The characters, the plot twists, the action, everything was so good. I can't believe I waited for so long to finally read this book, but better late than never, right ?
I've heard so many things about Mia, but I didn't expect to like her as much as I do. She is an awesome character and I can't wait to see how she grows. From the little girl, frightened by her powers she became a fierce warrior, ready to destroy anything and anyone that comes between her and her biggest desire: to murder the ones who murdered her father.
Oh and Jay Kristoff, I hate you. You know what you did and I. HATE YOU.
After reading Illuminae and Aurora Rising/Burning, I fell in love with Jay's (along with Amie's) writing and Nevernight is another great work of this author's.
This was a really enjoyable book, but I didn't love it as much as I loved the other books in the series. I felt like this one had the most annoying characters (and there were SO MANY). I really wanted more of Anne and Gilbert, I've been waiting for so long for these two to finally be together and now all I get is some letters Anne is writing to Gilbert? NOOOO
I wanted them to be together and do things and I wanted to READ about those things, ugh.
All in all, it was a beautiful book, thanks to Anne who is such an amazing character and makes everything better.
