I really liked this book, I would've given it 5 stars, but it lacked something. I don't know what, but it just wasn't a 5 stars read for me at this point. Maybe the fact that there is a huge twist in the book which I had figured out very early and it was no surprise to me when it came. It didn't hit me, it didn't make me go crazy, but it made me satisfied that I had it figured out.
I love Poppy's character. She is just a girl, forced to do whatever the Royals say just because she is “The Chosen”. I felt so sorry for her most of the time because she was caged and she's a really good person, who just wants to help others. I liked how her relationship with Hawke evolved and I obviously liked him. Because how can you not like the most handsome character in the book?
I can't wait to read the next book, hopefully it will feel better than this one did.
Are you a fan of the “enemies to lovers” trope? Then this book is perfect for you!
I had the great opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book and I'm so glad I did. It was good. It was a very interesting and special book, I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I've got to say, the cover drew my attention from the very first time I saw the book. I mean... That's a stunning illustration. Especially because it gives us the chance to correlate the characters with the faces.
Luella is a very beautiful character and she has a great name, I think it sounds so magical and it's perfect for her character. She's strong, she's determined to help everyone and she fights for her dreams. She doesn't let the might Elf King come between her and her duty, she finds ways to help others even when she becomes the Human Queen and she isn't supposed to do those things. That makes her a really great character, alongside her kindness, her ability to see the good in people.
Eldas is the dark, but actually kind of soft, Elf King. He comes to the Human realm, he takes the girl and forces her to become a Queen, when all she wanted to be was a healer. Of course, we all hated him at first. But then... Oh, then... We see his good side. His loving side. His affection for Luella is so precious and the things he does for her melt my heart.
The book is a really easy and quick read, it being a stand-alone, you find yourself lost in this beautiful world and then you will want more and more. The words flow in such a beautiful way that you don't know when you go from hating Eldas to loving him, from having your heart broken to it being pieced back together. Elise is a great writer and I can't wait to read more of her books!
What a beautiful read, perfect for summer days. All that talk about the ocean made me want to hop on a train and go to the beach, even though I'm not as brave as Nina and her siblings and I never adventure into deep water ‘cause I can't swim.
Malibu Rising follows the story of Nina Riva and her siblings: Jay, Hud and Kit. Nina is a famous surfer whose photo is on every boy's walls, she owns her family's restaurant Riva's Seafood on the Californian coast. She and her two brothers and sister come from a disfunctional family, and this books tells us the story of their lives growing up with a missing father and an alcoholic mother. I absolutely loved the format of this book: 24 hours of a day, the day of the famous Riva party, told in parallel with the story of June and Mick Riva, Nina's parents.
We can see the similarities between Nina, Jay, Hud and Kit and their parents and how hard they try not to be like them. But what I learned from this book is: we ARE NOT our parents.
This is a really heartwarming and beautiful story, Nina was definitely my favourite character and I loved seeing her grow, I cried and laughed with her. I felt like a part of the Riva family, like I was sitting right there on a Malibu beach, listening to their stories. This is the type of book that makes you feel so involved, that when you stop reading you're hit by the fact that you're sitting home in your bed, not on a beach or at a party with tons of stars.
OH OH AND if you've read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo THERE'S A REALLY NICE REFERENCE TO A CHARACTER FROM IT (Celia St. James). I almost cried when I saw that. Nice one, Taylor.
I obviously loved this book - hence the 5 stars review. BUT
yeah, there is a BUT...
LILA WAS SO FREAKING ANNOYING IN THIS BOOK. I mean - I get her. I understand why she did most of the stupid things, btu she was annoying and sometimes she acted like she knew better than Kell and that was obviously not true. As much as I loved her in the first book, in this one I wanted to just portal through this book and slap her and bring her back to her senses. I really hope she's going to get better in book 3 and start seeing that some things are NOT good for her. Because she's a great character and I don't want anything to happen to her.
And... that ending? That was CRUEL.
TRIGGER WARNING: rape, domestic violence
4.5 stars
I loved this book! Such a nice and quick read, I needed a break from my never-ending list of fantasy books and this was a great book to help me with that. Can't wait to dive deeper into this series!
A nice sneak-peek into the lives of the characters after A Court of Wings and Ruin. Not as good as the other books, of course, but it's still nice to see how they've been doing. I can't wait for the series to continue

This is such a beautiful book. I was expecting it to be a cliché, to be honest. But IT WASN'T.
This book has a lot of amazing things in it, starting with the fact that the main character, Harper, is suffering from cerebral palsy. For those of you who didn't know:
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood. Signs and symptoms vary among people and over time. Often, symptoms include poor coordination, stiff muscles, weak muscles, and tremors. There may be problems with sensation, vision, hearing, swallowing, and speaking. - Wikipedia
Harper is among the “lucky” ones, she has a limp which makes it harder for her to walk. But that didn't stop from becoming a badass princess. I love how she overcame her disability and how she becomes a warrior. I admire her so much for everything that she's done, for not giving up on her family just because she met a gorgeous prince from Fairyland (or Emberfall, haha).
At first I really thought that she was going to fall in love with Grey. I wasn't even sure what to expect from this book, but it was a really good retelling of “The Beauty and The Beast” (except it didn't have the huge, gorgeous library the Beast had :( sad reacts only).
Rhen is an arrogant prince who thought that he was entitled to anything and who thought that anyone should bow to him just because he was a prince. That was before Harper arrived in Emberfall and before she made him see things so differently. I loved their relationship throughout the book and how they started to trust each other.
I won't say anything else and I will keep it spoiler free, but if you want a great retelling, be sure to check this book out! I can't wait to read the next one and see what happens, because this one left me with SO MANY unanswered questions.
This book was perfect. Exactly what I wanted from Lily and Atlas' story. So beautiful and heartwarming, I loved every single page of it. Wow😭
I don't even know where to begin. This book deserves more than 5 stars. And I'm so glad I was lucky enough to be able to read it in advance, thanks to Entangled Teen and the author!
The final installment in the Ember of Night series did not disappoint. It had everything I expected and so much more. I loved the fact that the found family trope was so strong and the bonds between the characters were so important and I really felt like they belonged together as a whole new family.
This book made me laugh so much, but also cry. A lot. It's full of emotions, it's beautiful, it's perfect.
YOU ALL NEED TO READ IT!!!!
I absolutely loved this book! Molly Lee has such a beautiful writing style that will make you want to keep reading and reading. The book was so easy to read, the characters are amazing and there are sooo many feelings in this book, I don't even know how to describe it.
Definitely read this!
This was such an awesome book! It's so nice and easy to read and I enjoyed the story and the characters a lot.
What an awesome book! I really loved the story and the characters and I'm excited to read the next one. Hope it doesn't end on a cliffhanger like “Ember of Night”, because the third book isn't out yetttttttttt
I'm so happy I got the chance to read this book in advance, because now I have enough time to convince all of my bookish friends to pre-order it before it comes out.
If you're into historical fiction with a great mystery and a little bit of romance intertwined with it, this book is definitely for you.
This book was so, so good. I love the fact that it had 800 pages, I really feel connected to the characters now. And I am, of course, in love with Hunt.
The plot twists, the feelings, all the things that happened in this book have left me speechless. Sarah is an incredible writer and she has a special way of creating all these characters that make you instantly fall in love with them. She creates stories that will always remain in my heart, I've never read fantasy as good as hers. (besides Lord of the Rings).
It took me years to finally pick up this series and I am glad that I did. I actually enjoyed the first book and I feel like this is one of those series where the books get better and better (hopefully). I am so excited for the next ones and to see where the story is going.
At the moment I am not a huge fan of either Lissa or Rose, I get that their are immature because let's be honest, they are in high school. I am very intrigued by Dimitri though and I can't wait to read more about him!
I didn't really like it just because it was somehow boring and nothing unexpected happened. I've heard so much about this book and I really thought that it's something wow, but I was sooo disappointed to find out that it's not that good.
This was a really nice book, but it was quite predictable for me, that's why I can't give it 5 stars and I will only give it 4. The revelations and plot twists did not surprise me because I had already figured them out, so...
I'm excited to read the next one and see where the story goes!
This book was definitely a page-turner for me!
Following the story of Harper, Rhen, Grey and Lia Mara, the third and final book in the Cursebreakers series is a great ending for such a beautiful story! I didn't know what to expect when I dived into this book, but it wasn't such a heart-warming story, full of powerful and emotional scenes.
I loved the fact that, unlike in book 2, we got to hear more of Rhen and Harper's thoughts. There were a lot of chapters from their point of view, as well as Grey's and Lia Mara's. We get to know them better: their fears, their weaknesses, their strengths and their personalities.
After the events of the second book, Rhen has turned into a villain, Harper is trying to make him see the good part of things. Grey has fled Emberfall and has allied with the enemy, the new queen of Syhl Shallow: Lia Mara. What will become of these countries and their rulers? Who will win the war that is coming upon them? Read this book and find out. You won't regret it!
I reall enjoyed this one. I was so, so excited to finally read it and I gotta say, I wanted it mostly because I kept seeing that gorgeous cover around bookstagram. Was it a cover buy? You could say that, but I also read the blurb and I was fascinated by the idea. It's a very unique book!
There are a lot of things happening in this book and I loved how fast-paced it was, there are some nice plot twists and revelations that made me want to read the next book as well!
Such an incredible book. I loved everything about it, it got me hooked from the very first few pages. I just couldn't put it down. I love the idea of humanity conquering absolutely everything, from disease to death to poverty and everyone living happily ever after - until they're gleaned, of course.
Citra and Rowan are two awesome characters. I loved how they evolved and they became some new, incredible versions of themselves. This is a really, really good dystopian book and I can't wait to read the next ones in the series and see what happens!
I highly recommend it if you like dystopian books.
If you're looking for a gothic romantic thriller that's perfect for the spooky season, “Parting the Veil” is what you're looking for.
I devoured this book, I couldn't put it down! It's not my usual type of book, I tend to stay away from thrillers or spooky books in general because I get easily scared, but this one was SO GOOD and the romance intertwined with the thriller parts was the perfect combination.
This book is set in a house full of secrets, that our main character Eliza, is determined to find out, even though everyone keeps warning her to stay away from those secrets and from her husband, Malcolm. I loved Eliza's chartacter and her strength, she was living in a man's world but that didn't stop her from acting the way she wanted, not the way she was supposed to be acting.
The revelations in this book will keep you wanting to read more and more and that's one of the things I absolutely loved about it! The plot twists are amazing, trust me. I literally wanted to scream while reading this book.
Another CoHo book that did not disappoint! Such a beautiful and heartbreaking story, full of emotions. I loved it so much!
