This was such a great book, I definitely did not feel like it was almost 500 pages long, I breezed through it. It was very easy to read and I loved every single part of it. I am so excited for the nest one!
I really enjoyed this book! I fell in love with the concept of it from the start... I mean, a writer who falls in her own book and gets to meet the characters she's created? That sounds amazing!
The writing style was nice and enjoyable, I am excited to read more of this author's work!
This book. Ugh.
It was so much better than the first one. A looot less disturbing scenes, brutal sex (even rape) and more gentle, love making scenes.
I can't even describe how much my heart hurts for Laurent. I've come to like him a lot as a character, as I got to know him better. And I keep thinking of his reaction when he's going to find out that Damen is actually Damianos. It's going to be really bad, isn't it?
But I am so glad they have each other, at least for now. It's obvious that Laurent brings out the best in Damen, and that Damen has helped Laurent so much through this book.
I was even sorry for Aimeric's character, even though he did some pretty horrible things, he didn't deserve to die like that, his suicide made me sad and I felt so sorry for him. And for Jord, poor Jord.
I can't wait to read the next book and see what happens!
This was a really nice fantasy read, with unexpected plot twists and interesting characters. I really liked the writing style, I found it easy to read and that type of writing that makes you want to read more and more.
Oh wow, what a book! I really loved it. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did since it's a bit out of my comfort zone, but it was really good. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I was so excited to find out what was going to happen to Chique. I loved the part where the title finally makes sense, love seeing authors include the title of the book between the pages. The author did an amazing job with this debut novel and I actually cannot wait for the next book in the series!
What an amazing ending to this beautiful series! I had high hopes for this book and it did not disappoint. The writing was so beautiful, the characters had an amazing development and the plot kept me alert and I just couldn't put it down.
I'm so grateful that I got to read this book in advance, thanks to the amazing Lindsay (@novelitica on Instagram).
You like vampires that don't sparkle in the sun, the ‘found family' trope, great friendships, sarcastic characters and a fast paced story? Then this book is for you.
It got me at “An Absolute Bloody Disaster”. I feel like this title was enough to make me want to read the book. The fact that it's a book about vampires intrigued me, because we definitely need more great stories about these mythical creatures.
In Lindsay's book vampires are what you might expect them to be: stronger than a human, faster, with supersonic hearing, cursed to drink blood for the rest of their lives, they can use their gift of Compulsion in order to make humans do whatever they want and yes, the sun can burn them. Apparently they can train their bodies to tolerate the sun, but very few vampires actually do it.
Now let's talk about the characters. There's Charlotte, our main character, a fierce vampire who's been living for 213 years. The book is written from her point of view and I loved this fact, because Charlotte is such a funny and amazing character and she IS an absolute bloody disaster, which makes it even better.
The other characters are: Xander (Charlotte's brother) and his love, Victoria
Nik (I LOVE HIM)
Pippa - such a funny, witty character
Rose - I didn't particularly like her, but she's not that bad
You're going to meet them and fall in love with their dynamic, the crazy relationships they have, thier banter and their adventures.
The storyline is very complex, I loved the fact that some chapters were set in the past and they helped me to understand the characters better, to get to know their personalities. THE PLOT TWISTS were pure bliss. I was shocked by what happens in this book and that's a good thing, I didn't feel like it was predictable or expected.
So, this was a great book. I MEA.... VAMPIRES? C'mon, you gotta read it.
Such a magical, beautiful book. Everyone has been telling me for quite some time that I NEED to read this book and I finally did it. And I am so happy that I did and I wish I had read it sooner... but better late than never, right?
The story is magical (I can't find another word to describe it, maybe whimsical?) and it captivated me from the first pages. Blue god, a dreamer boy, love, hope, happiness and sadness, that's what this book is about. I absolutely adored the way the author “explained” the title. The book focuses on the journey of Lazlo Strange, who is a dreamer. Therefore, Strange the Dreamer is the perfect title for the book.
I knew from the very first pages that I was going to love Lazlo. He is not your typical hero, he isn't the most gorgeous man alive. He's a simple librarian, but he has a huge power: the power of dreaming. He can dream the most unusual things, he is a very open-minded person and he is not afraid of the unknown. That's why, when he meets the beautiful blue goddess Sarai, he meets her with his arms wide open and he isn't afraid of her, like the other people were.
Their story turns into something gorgeous and I loved reading about their relationship and how it evolved throughout the book. There were some pretty awesome plot twists, especially at the end. The ending left me sobbing and wanting to start reading “Muse of Nightmares” sooner. As in, after I post this review I am going to start reading the next book because I NEED to see what happens.
I absolutely loved this book(it's obvious since I read it in one day) and I adored Aaron. He became one of my favourite characters ever and I would've loved it if there were more books in this series, because I felt like there were not enough things said about him and we didn't actually discover the true Aaron.
I really enjoyed this book - a quick and nice read!
The story follows a misunderstood girl, Beatrice “Bea” Tidal, and the weird things that keep happening to her. After she's shipped off to a summer camp by her foster parents, her life changes forever. She finds herself in a strange, magical land called Eslura, with the girl who was supposed to supervise her at camp, Reagen.
The writing style is beautiful and I really enjoyed it, I liked the world-building and the magic system. There are chapters following different characters, so it might be a little bit confusing at first, but then their stories merge together because they all have the same goal: saving Eslura from the wicked Obellius Kalaar, who is trying to conquer Eslura after he escaped from the Morgaedion prison.
While I did enjoy the story, I found it a little bit hard to follow because there were so many characters' names, places, legends that I didn't understand and they were confusing me. Maybe a guide of Eslura would help or a guide with the characters and who they are, what their role is.
All in all, this book was a really enjoyable one and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quick and nice escape from reality.
Real rating: 3.5 stars
Swan Song of My Era was a very interesting and unique book, I haven't read anything like it before and maybe that's the reason I couldn't give it a better rating, because I'm not used to this type of writing and story, so I couldn't fall in love with it or the characters.
However, it was a really nice read, I enjoyed some parts of it quite a lot. I loved the fact that it's such an inclusive and diverse book with LGBTQ+, disability, Asian and Vitiligo representation, which was amazing. Our main character, Spes, is such a strong female who doesn't let anybody talk her down, who doesn't take s*it from the people around her, who loves her family and friends in such a beautiful and healthy way. She doesn't stop fighting for her dreams and I loved watching her develop and become better.
I loved how the author developed the relationship between Hope and Spes, two girls in love with different forms of art, but who found something so beautiful in each other. Their friendship is so inspiring and I was rooting so hard for them to be together, I was so happy when they finally took the step towards something more. They're truly made for each other.
Another thing I really liked about this book was how the author portrayed the relationships between Spes and her two sisters: Pax and Felicity. I found myself in Spes and Pax's relationship, having a sister myself, I completely related to them and the fact that nothing between them seemed fake, but genuine, made me so happy. They fight, but they love each other so much, yet they sometimes fail to show it.
Overall, the book is an enjoyable read and it might be amazing for you if you like books with lots and lots of dialogue, books that are mostly character driven.
Oh no, OH NO. Beware, this book is going to break your heart. It was even better than the first and I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT IT. It left me speechless and crying and I need the next one like RIGHT NOW. I wanna know what happens, I NEED to know.
And can I say how much I hate Zuleeka? I didn't like her since the first time she made an appearance and I kept disliking her throughout the book, until the point of HATING her.
And I'm so disappointed in Kiva for the decisions she makes and for everything she did, how is she going to make this right? Lynette, bring on the next book.
I loved this book so much! It was so beautiful and wholesome and it made me laugh and cry and fall in love with the characters (especially Brian, ughhhhh). It was quick and easy to read and it really made me forget that I was reading - that's how you know a book is good!
What a beautiful book! I absolutely loved the whole Italian atmosphere - Italy is one of my favorite places even though I've been only once there - and lake Como is one of my dream destinations, so reading about these amazing characters living their dream in such a beautiful place warmed my heart. Anna is a strong and amazing woman, Jake is everything a woman could want and together they make such a beautiful couple. Fake dating is also one of my favorite tropes, so I enjoyed a lot reading this book. Highly recommend it!
A very beautiful collection of poems, that have the power of making you feel what the writer was feeling when she wrote them. Liana is such a talented person and these poems are really amazing. If you're a poetry fan, you should definitely check this book out! (and damn, that cover is stunning!)
After reading “A Deal with the Elf King” by Elise Kova, I fell in love with her work and her writing style. Such an amazing, underrated author, who deserves so much more hype than she gets.
The second book in the Married to Magic universe, a beautiful fantasy stand-alone, follows the story of a human girl named Katria, who's hand is sold by her stepmother to a rich lord that lives by the forest. Katria doesn't know what expects her inside the huge manor that resembles a castle and she resents her stepmother for selling her so easily.
Her new husband, Lord Fenwood, is very secretive and mysterious man, turns out to be the rightful heir to the Fae throne. The events of the book unravel beautifully into a fast-paced, magic story that will keep you wanting to turn the pages.
SpoilerNow, let's talk some huge spoilers. I mean, the biggest one would be that Katria is the true heir to the throne and that's something that felt expected to me, which made me give this book 4 stars instead of 5. I figured it out, connecting the few pieces Elise gave us: Katria's mother, the mysterious book, the last Aviness heir running away somehwere they weren't found and where could that be, if not the mortal lands?. In the last part of the book I was just waiting for them to figure it out and see what happens. I mean, I won't deny that I was a little bit disappointed in Davien's reaction when he found out that he wasn't the heir. He's been training his whole life to be king and when the crown fell from his head, he was so... calm? I was expecting a more WOW reaction from him and from everyone else. And Katria was surprisingly calm when she found out that she was the heir. I mean, I get it, she had time to adjust to the Fae world and she was already a part of it, but she became queen so fast and everything was fine. I understand the whole “everything is happy” concept of the book and it's really nice if you want a cute, happy read.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I'm so thankful that I got the chance to read it in advance, thanks to the amazing Elise! Can't wait for the next book, because VAMPIRES? GIVE IT TO ME
Tot zic de mult timp că o citesc, în sfârşit am făcut-o şi nu regret deloc. O carte superbă, care merită neapărat să fie citită. O să o țin minte mult timp de acum încolo, sunt sigură.
This book is A TREAT. And it made me miss Christmas so much and all those christmassy vibes, it made me so excited for the upcoming holiday, even though there's still a lot of time left until Christmas. But it's never too early to get excited, right?
If you like very cute romances, lots of Christmas vibes and decorations, descriptions that made you feel like you're visiting the book setting and... CORGIS, then this book is perfect for you.
I absolutely loved every single part of it and I devoured it. I read it in less than one day, I just couldn't put it down. Maddie and Julian's storyis such a beautiful one and I just wanted to know what was going to happen to them.
Maddie, an American tourist that never intended to stay in London, gets stuck in the beautiful city when a volcano errupts and her flight to Paris is delayed. She can't go to Paris with her sister (who is also stuck in another country), she's alone in London and her best friend's death anniversary is coming. But then she meets the cute cab driver, Julian, and he takes her on a London tour, helps her discover the beauty of the city, introduces her to his friends and helps Maddie have a great time, even though the circumstances are not the best for her.
The books is fascinating and it's definitely a page-turner and a quick, cute read. Our main characters are not perfect, they're human and they're flawed, but the author makes them so easy to be loved and appreciated. I found myself falling in love with Julian, feeling like Maddie would be such an amazing friend to have and just wanting to be a part of their little group of friends.
If you want a book perfect for Christmas time, make sure to add this to your list. You're going to love it!
I don't even know where to begin - this book was everything that I expected and so much more. I'm writing this from the point of view of a person who is Romanian, but hasn't lived through the revolution - my parents did.
It is very clear to me that the author has done her research in a very thorough way. There were lots of things that impressed me, that made me smile thinking how beautiful it is to see them on paper, written by a foreign author, read by the entire world. Things like the names of the stray dogs Fetita and Turbatu (which are Romanian words for “Little Girl” and “The rabid one”). Things like the jokes Bunu and Cristian were saying with “Bula”, who is a very popular character in Romanian jokes. This book truly felt like home to me, even though it shows the not-so-pretty parts of Romania.
“I Must Betray You” is a very, very painful book. It shows the history of Romania in the communist era, the struggles our people have endured: no electricity, no hot water, waiting in never-ending lines for scraps of food, being opressed, not having the freedom to say what they were thinking, being followed by the Securitate, not being able to trust anyone, not even their own family. I love Ruta Sepetys for writing about Romania, for making people understand what my country has been through. There are a lot of people who have no idea what truly happened in Romania and I feel like the world SHOULD know.
This book made me cry so much. I literally cried for the entire second half of the book, I was reading through my tears the story of Cristian and his friends and family. How they fought with the communists, how they struggled to survive.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about a very painful history, but beware that this book is painful and you're going to neet lots and lots of tissues.
Many thanks to PRH International for giving me a copy of this book to read and review. All thoughts are my own. A Beauty and the Beast retelling where the Beast is the girl? Give it to me! Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite fairytales and when I heard that [b:Curses 43207851 Curses Lish McBride https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1605801796l/43207851.SY75.jpg 67047308] is a retelling of it WITH A TWIST, I had to read it. The cover also caught my eye, so it's a big plus from me.I really enjoyed the book and I found it very easy to read, I laughed along with the characters and I cried when emotional things happened, even though I knew (or at least I suspected) how this was going to end, it still warmed my heart so much. The story of Merit and Tevin, the Beast of Cravan and the Beauty, a handsome boy, is perfect for fans of heartwarming stories, fairytale retellings with a twist and great side characters. There's also a non-binary character in this book, which I really appreciated. We rarely get to see non-binary characters in fantasy books.
I re-read this book after 3 years and it was even better than the first time I read it. What a great book!
