The book had a lot to live up to (expectation-wise). I grew up watching the franchise and I finally decided to jump into reading the book. It was worth every second. Katniss is much more enjoyable in the book then in the movie. It was easy to root for her. You get to know Katniss better in the book. The relationship between Peeta and Katniss was also enjoyable to watch unfold. Even if Katniss was too dense to realize that Peeta truly does have feelings for her. I would most definitely recommend.
I read this book in middle school and I can honestly say it was one of my favorites. I read through it quickly, even reading during lunch. It was so enjoyable and it was nice to read about the journeys of being a teen while i was just entering my teen years.
Not bad at all. Felt more like a filler book to move the story along. Harry's attitude in this was quite annoying. It felt as though he saw himself as the hero of them all when in reality if it hadn't been for Hermonie, he probably wouldn't have gotten this far. Snape deserves so much better from those around him as well.
4 1/2 stars
Holly Jackson has a way of writing mysteries that I love. Her books don't feel too long or short and once you realize what happened, you'll be shocked but also excited to see where it goes.
Bel was an enjoyable character. She wasn't perfect and she didn't hesitate to get to the bottom of things which allowed the story to run smoothly and fast. Her way of thinking allowed the reader (or at least me) to reach conclusions fast and right when she did.
I was expecting the story to go on way and utilize the documentary crew to find out why her mother disappeared but I was pleasantly shocked when the story took a different route.
My only problem is the ending. It felt clumpy and like things were being over explained. It felt just a bit longer than necessary. But other than that, the ending was satisfying and the happy ending well deserved for the characters.
A smart and interesting take a on children story. The subtle horror of it all gives you chills and the helping cat was a very nice touch. Coraline is a protagonist you can't help but love and root for. Her interesting look on life is written to perfect.
The sickening other mother is such a scary touch. Her character overall is insanely creepy and probably one of my favorite antagonist ever.
Overall this tory is written perfectly and can be a fast but easy read. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys horror or just likes the Coraline movie in general.
Better than the first in my opinion. The wizarding world will always give me chills. The mystery aspect was perfectly made and I was able to find pieces out as I read. I would recommend to anyone.
I decided to read this franchise on a whim. I started when I was 18 and now I am going on 20. I can truly understand why this series is held so closely to peoples hearts. The characters are enjoyable and the story line never bored me.
Everything about this book was near perfect. I do have a few complaints.
1. I wish Severus Snape didn't die. His death felt unneeded and overall made me really sad, especially when learning all he did for Harry.
2. I wish Dumbledore had been a better character. Dumbledore was always that character that you could trust on saving the day, I understood Harry couldn't have been told every detail but I feel like he withheld far too much for far too long.
I had heard a lot about this book and finally decided to read it. I flew through this book. The writing was magnificent and the story was sad but easy to follow. The ending was bound to happen but was sad to see. Overall it's an amazing book with good characters. I would recommend this book to anyone.
While the Twilight franchise isn't perfect, I found myself deeply enjoying each and every moment I had with it. The writing isn't the greatest but it doesn't have to be. You can practically feel the love Bella and Edward have for each other without needing extravagant words depicting it.
The subtle transformation Bella has when she's a vampire is the most well written thing. No more blushing or feeling embarrassed or being extremely shy. Bella was now outgoing and more herself than anything.
This series will always be so precious to me and this was the perfect ending.
I will say that I didn't particularly enjoy Jacob's section. He quickly became a least favorite character for me.
While it took me a while to finish the book, it was worth it. I had read the short story by Stephen King near Halloween and it really set the mood. The short story was GREAT (10/10 if you ask me) and once I found out that there was a full book on it, I just had to read it. Watching the slow take over of the town by the vampires was interesting. I will say, I wasn't a fan of how most of the characters were written. The end wasn't bad and it lead to me want a second book about the characters that did survive.
I might not like how Stephen King writes. Maybe it's just me. The book was okay. Not his best work. The ending was shocking but there was a wholesome feeling in the last 2-3 pages. I was tense though. But it took a while to get to the main point. The drama was annoying at times. Overall, I wouldn't read it again and I don't think I would recommend it to anyone.
