DNF-So, I'm not sure what book the rest of you were reading but this book was terrible. I saw the Netflix series and decided to read the book because I loved the show! This is the first time in history the show is better than the book. I'll be honest, I made it to page 102 of 172 and stopped. Literally, not one thing happened in that 102 pages. Basically just bad dialogue. It took me a month to get to page 102 because I was so bored I never wanted to pick the book up. Finally, I just gave up! Seriously, just watch the show- that was amazing.

Where to even start? I read this book at the recommendation of my Dad. He had read it years ago and wanted to read it again. He explained the premise and it seemed interesting so I checked it out on Libby.
The first 20% of the book I liked, the world building was crazy. Even though it was tedious to read I was still interested.
Then the next 60% of the book I was bored to tears. I wanted to keep reading it because my dad liked it so much. I was so bored from the tedious writing. Every time the book started getting to the point it was set back 50 steps because of some danger lurking. I was like FOR THE LOVE OF GOT JUST GET TO THE SHIP!! I resorted to doing text to speech on my kindle app while I did other things just to make it through.
Then the final 20% of this book I WAS HOOKED!!!! The last 20% was the best part of the entire book, I loved the ending, I really love how things were explained and loose ends were tied up in a little bow. I felt it was a happy ending.
So, In the end I am giving it 3 stars because, although I loved the ending, that middle 60% was actual torture to get through.
In the end I am glad I read it.

It was good even though I figured out the ending 80% through. It could have been a bit shorter, I felt like I was reading a lot of nonsense after the 50% mark. Overall, it was good, even though the ending made me irrationally angry for several reasons. There was also a lot of liberties taken within the writing, there are several things that happen where, if you think about it too long, you realize how ridiculous it is.

Overall I liked it. Some parts dragged on a little too long explaining in minute detail things we don't really need to know. This was still a wild ride from start to finish.

I mean...it was decent. Slightly better than average, not a 4 or 5 star read though. Some of the directions the plot went were annoying to me. Also, why are the characters all so unlikable? I don't think I liked any of them to be honest. Floyd could be the most annoying character ever written. I'm still rating is 3 stars though because I did find myself wanting to know wtf was happening here. I had an idea, but I didn't know how it was going to all come together- I'm glad it didn't go the way I originally thought it was going to go though. Also, the author really did Ellie dirty with how she ended that character.
