See allKrista knocked it out of the park with Fire of the Sorceress, it delivered on everything I wanted out of the prequel book. We got backstory, we got lore, and we even got Kat getting good again. On top of it all we got an awesome story involving well written characters and big time circumstances all relating to Kat's history. After reading I just need to see these characters grow even more, I need to know whats causing Adrian's paranoia, and I need to know who is giving out long dead secrets.
Martin knocks it out of the park with this series. Every book follows along with events that occur in his Tales of Weird Florida series all from the perspective of Christine, the new Anders Hand.
Read this book as an ARC read, absolutely fantastic work! A good amount of world development, good character development and progress as people coming to terms with a messed up world, and on top of all of it an interesting premise to what causes the world to go horribly world.
I was provided an ARC copy of this book. Its an absolutely incredible followup to book 1. We get more world development of the land of Crearia, we get to learn more about its myths and people, and we get to follow the eternally unlucky Sainte Nore and his old friend Iris. They are also joined by another, a mysterious wealthy benefactor, who nobody really trusts but he pays for everything so they begrudgingly allow him to tag along.
Along the way we also revisit the city of Munich, and its citizens all recovering from the Dark Days of Book 1. Things start to look up and then in proper grim dark fashion, Daniel slaps all those hopes back into their corner where they belong! However, the results of those cornered hopes results in a series of awesome sequences involving the remaining Blades and Munich's neighbors.
Don't miss this book, especially if you love Grim Dark books and fantasy novels. I for one cannot wait for Book 3 to find out whether Sainte learns that headbands are a thing and whether his luck is ever going to improve.
This book is AMAZING!
To begin with, I had an ARC copy because Sarah is awesome and hooked me up. But I'll definitely be picking up an actual copy.
The story itself is absolutely fantastic and picks up almost immediately after book 1 with Calynn dealing with more nonsense from the Sidhe. We get more info about her history, we meet the other side of the family, find out the reason behind Calynn's strange dreams, and even find out what her expected destiny is. All the while adding people to her group of misfits and rejects that she turns into an amazing team. Add to all that Calynn learning how her magic works and competing in what is effectively a tourney with it.
Every single page was fantastic and an each moment was a very enjoyable read. I cannot wait for Book 3!
