A good sequel to a really good dystopian story. I was more engaged with the first book, but Never Fade was a solid continuation and it had some heartwarming AND heartbreaking moments. The ending made me really want to finish reading the trilogy asap!
Ahhh...
So America really REALLY frustrated me in this book. She's so insensitive, selfish and indecisive. I enjoyed the story and I love Maxon. Aspen annoys me, because he keeps breaking rules to mess with America's head, pretending that he cares about her more than he cares about himself.
It was interesting to read about Gregory Illéa and what a narcissistic bastard he was. Finally getting to “meet” one of the rebels and seeing that not all of them were bloodthirsty savages was also very nice. It added more dimension to the whole story.
Marlee's story was so sad and beautiful at the same time.
The ending pleased me. I'm happy that America has finally decided to trust Maxon and actually fight for him and show him that she appreciates all that he's done for her. Because wow, that man has gone out of his way to make sure she's happy and she just threw everything away in a heartbeat.
I'm going to start “The One” very soon and I hope America decides to stay with Maxon. Aspen can marry Lucy and everyone would get their happily ever after.
Oh. My. God.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
It's so action-packed and funny and well-written! Our main character Tella is awesome - she's sarcastic and honest and the way she's written makes her feel so real. Even minor characters in this book feel very real. I developed emotions for all them, good and bad. A couple characters I found myself truly hating, to the point where I would shout at my book for something bad to happen to them. And others I just instinctively liked. Plot twists? Yes. Several!
I know the plot of this might sound a lot like The Hunger Games, but trust me, this story is completely different. Please, please, please give it a read!
This book was about me. Or at least that what it felt like. I am Cath; Cath is me.
Ok, so it's kind of obvious that Simon Snow in “Fangirl” = Harry Potter in our world and that's how I felt like I could really relate to Cath. I was 8 years old when I became the biggest Harry Potter fan, but I wasn't alone - EVERYONE was a Harry Potter fan. But the other people grew out of Harry Potter while I stayed a superfan. And that's still how it is. And that's how it is for Cath even though she's in college now.
As a fangirl, an Aspie and generally a young woman, I felt like Cath could be my twin. We're so similar. And Rainbow Rowell's writing is so ALIVE. The characters are so life-like, so realistic and just generally, yes, alive. I could see them in my mind so clearly. I could see every facial expression, every surrounding, every scene. It was exactly like watching a movie in my mind and that doesn't happen very often - the book has to be really good for that to happen to me.
“Fangirl” is worth every single one of those five stars and I really can't wait to meet Rainbow Rowell next month and get my book autographed.
PS: Can I have my own Levi, please?
This book is like the lovechild of “The Selection” by Kiera Cass and “Eve” by Anna Carey. Really! It's got the best of both of those books, but at the same time it's unique and original.
Violet is a good main character. She's kind of naive and a tiny bit... stupid(?) sometimes, but at the same time she's very clever and strong-willed. She sees right through the royals' game and she's not willing to play it. The only thing I didn't love about this book was the instalove. But at the same time I could see why it was so instantly, especially because those feelings are all new to Violet and she wants to explore everything right then and there.
The ending of this book waS A MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER THAT I DID NOT SEE COMING AND I'M NOT SURE HOW TO COPE WITH THIS NEW INFORMATION. Phew. I need the next book right now, please.
At first I have to admit that I found this book quite boring. The story just seemed to be very idle and slow while the world was built. But when it took off, it REALLY took off. It was like slow... slow... BOOM. It felt like a mix of The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones, but set on Mars. It was really cool.
So if you want violence? This book has it. Death? Yep, right here. Friendship? That too. A brand new world? Look no further.
3.5 stars.
If this book had been just a little more focussed on the science/dystopian part and a little less on the romance (quite instalove romance too), I think I would've really enjoyed this book. As it is, I liked it, but it wasn't that special to me. Our main character starts out as the most annoying, spoiled brat ever, but thankfully she improves rather quickly and is tolerable for most of the book.
My first graphic novel/comic book and I really enjoyed it! It only took me like 20 minutes to read, but the story already has me hooked. Will be buying Volume 2 asap.

** 4.5 stars **
Probably the only one to say this, but... This was my least favourite of the series so far! But as you can see from my rating, I still really enjoyed it!
The positives:
- Daemon & Katy's relationship swoon
- THE ENDING!!!!!
- Dawson & Beth
- Matthew's betrayal was so unexpected- Beth's pregnancy, I saw it coming from a looong way, but I still loved it!
The negatives:
- The dual perspective... It was cool to see the world from Daemon's POV, but I prefer just reading from Katy's POV at this point
- Blake's death just seemed to rushed and it felt like it was there just to get rid of him- The marriage? I get they love each other, but that happened way too fast for me
Bring on Opposition!
Davy - our heroine - is such a massive Mary Sue, but the story and setting was very cool. As a biomedical scientist, the genetics part of the book intrigued me and I could totally see this scenario happening in the future, if not as severe as in this book. The fact that Davy thinks she's better than everyone else annoyed me so much and that is why I give this book 3 stars instead of 4.
4.5 stars
I enjoyed this book so much! At first, America annoyed me. I didn't really like Aspen and thought it was so stupid of her to decide to not like Maxon. I would've married him in a heartbeat, just sayin'.
The world in this book was really interesting. I'm guessing it's set somewhere around 300 or 400 years into the future?
I don't watch The Bachelor on TV, but reading about a similar thing was a lot of fun. I just want America to accept Maxon's love ughhhhh!
Just when I thought I couldn't hate Blake any more than I already did... What a fucking arsehole!
So this book ended very abruptly and painfully. Not cool, Armentrout, not cool! Throughout this book I really enjoyed the development of Katy & Daemon's relationship. I want my own Daemon! The middle part of the book with Carissa's death was completely unexpected and made me so upset. But then Dee sort of accepting Katy again made me really happy. It was a rollercoaster.
I'm so glad I already have the next two books on my shelf, because I can't wait to see what happens next!
Once you get past the first, say, 70 pages (?), it really kicks off and gets interesting. I loved it and cannot wait to read the sequel.
This book was so cute and thrilling and wonderful and heartbreaking, all at the same time.
It started off a bit slow, not gonna lie, and the vast majority of the story takes place during a hike, but it didn't feel stagnant. The romance and the sci-fi aspects blended together very well and the last hundred pages, oh god... My heart could barely take it at 2am when I was reading. Can't wait to read the companion novel, which should is out very soon! This world feels like it's regressed back to the 40s but at the same time it's miles ahead of our current society. It's very interesting.
This book was so entertaining! I wouldn't say it scared me, but it definitely made me laugh with all the IKEA bashing cleverly concealed in the story & even Doctor Who mentions (always wins me over). I definitely gained a few confused glances as I sat reading this book (which looks like an IKEA catalogue) at the airport in New York, chuckling to myself and shouting “Doctor Who reference” to my sister.
The ending was really cool, I liked it.
I'm enjoying this series so much. I bloody love Daemon and I really like Katy (even though she's hella annoying sometimes, seriously annoying). The ending was just... aww. And can I just say that the humour in these books is hilarious, I laugh out loud all the time. Can't believe I didn't read the Lux series sooner!
Btw I so need to buy printed copies of these, but in the meanwhile, thank god for Amazon ebooks!
4.75 stars!
Honestly: like Twilight, but better. Much better, actually. The humour was 5-star material, Katy was hilarious and badass and awesome. Dee is such a cutie and Daemon, well, he's hot and a huge jerk, but kinda cute too and wow, I don't know what my feelings are right now.
This book was so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I read this after my friend Lauren on Twitter recommended it to me months ago, and I don't regret it.
I know some people disagree with the ending, but I thought it was perfect and the only way to end the book. Yeah, it was sad, but I think it was the best outcome for both Lou and Will.
And WOW AM I EXCITED FOR THE MOVIE ADAPTATION. Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin, JENNA COLEMAN (my bby) and Matt Lewis? YES PLEASE.
