Brandon Sanderson nos presenta una fantasía épica con una protagonista femenina que contiene un sistema de magia brillante. Este libro toca no solamente temas fantásticos si no que invita al lector a reflexionar con los temas sociales, económicos y políticos propios de este universo. Mi única critica a esta lectura es que a mi gusto el final del libro pareció un poco precipitado (claro esta es mi percepción) y que debido a la complejidad del universo la primera parte del libro puede parecer un poco lenta quedando a su final algunas preguntas sin responder, sin embargo, esto tiene sentido ya que este libro es la primera entrega de una trilogía
¿Continuare leyendo esta saga? La respuesta es sí, me gustaría continuar explorando el Cosmere. Le daria en general un 3.5.

Brandon Sanderson presents us with an epic fantasy with a female protagonist that contains a brilliant magic system. This book doesn't talk exclusively of fantastic/magical topics, but also invites the reader to reflect on the social, economic and political issues typical of this universe. My only criticism of this reading is that in my opinion the end of the book seemed a bit hasty (of course this is my perception) and that due to the complexity of the universe the first part of the book may seem a bit slow leaving some questions without answering at the end, however, this makes sense since this book is the first installment of a trilogy
Will I continue reading this saga? The answer is yes, I would like to continue exploring the Cosmere. For this book it is a 3.5 in my opinion.

Flores para Algernon es una novela de ciencia ficción social que nos narra la historia de nuestro protagonista Charlie, un hombre con un trastorno intelectual que se somete a un novedoso y experimental tratamiento que promete aumentar su IQ. Pero esta historia va mas haya de eso ya que mediante recuerdos y sueños registrados en su diario (reportes de progreso) uno llega a conocer a Charlie de manera profunda y entender sus motivaciones y metas. No tengo mucho mas que decir de este libro ya que como pueden ver por la calificación me encanto, sentí la historia muy íntima, humana y desgarradora al punto donde comienzas a sentir a Charlie como una persona real.

Flowers for Algernon is a social science fiction novel that tells the story of our protagonist Charlie, a man with an intellectual disability who undergoes an innovative and even experimental treatment that promises to increase his IQ. But this story is more than that since through memories and dreams recorded in his diary (progress reports) one gets to know Charlie in a deep way and understand his motivations and goals. I don't have much more to say about this book because as you can see from the rating, I loved it, I felt the story very intimate, human and heartbreaking to the point where you start to feel Charlie as a real person.

Do not hate me when you see the rating please! I want to clarify that this book is not bad, however I could not connect with the characters and the story in the way I would have liked, since I read it with high expectations. This is my personal experience with the book. The story is very sweet, and I think that specially toward the end it simply felt corny / cliché for my taste.
Maybe I'm just full of evil and this just doesn't connect with me. Actual Rating: 2.5/5.

¡No me odien al ver la calificación por favor!, quiero aclarar que este libro no es malo sin embargo yo no pude conectar con los personajes y la historia de la manera en que me hubiese gustado, ya que lo leí con altas expectativas. Recuerden que esta en es mi experiencia personal con el libro. La historia es muy dulce y creo que especialmente hacia el final la historia se sintió ya muy cursi/cliché para mi gusto.
Tal vez simplemente yo estoy llena de maldad y esto simplemente no se conecta conmigo. Calificación real: 2.5/5.

Este es un relato cortísimo - mi versión en Kindle solo contaba con 28 páginas (Español) – que habla del anhelo por un hombre en un pueblo conformado exclusivamente por mujeres, ese hombre que vendrá y les ayudara cumplir sueños robados por una guerra.

This is a very short story, my Kindle version only had 28 pages (Spanish), it specks of the longing for a man in town conformed exclusively by women's, that man who will come and help them to fulfill dreams stolen by a war.
La historia que este libro nos relata gira en torno a Marina, una mujer de clase alta con una vida perfectamente resuelta y Jose Cuauhtémoc, un escritor en potencia además que además es reo del Reclusorio Oriente. Con un uso de la lengua española que - a mi muy humilde parecer - es original y autentico y ambientado en un México contemporáneo, este libro nos lleva por una montaña rusa en la que se experimentan muchos temas de relevancia actual; la violencia, la inseguridad, la diferencia de clases, el racismo, la misoginia y la corrupción.
Personalmente, querido lector, puedo decirte que esta novela me gustó mucho, pero a su vez debo advertirte que en ciertos momentos puede llegar a ser cruda y tocar temas que podrían ser considerados tabú, si resulta incomoda es solo porque peca de pintar una imagen escalofriantemente acertada del México actual. Debo advertirte que este libro llega casi a las 700 páginas, por lo cual, si estas buscando un libro corto tal vez no sea el momento de visitar Salvar el Fuego, sin embargo, también debo decir que te mantiene bastante interesado en el destino de nuestros apasionados protagonistas de inicio a fin.

Esta es una noveleta (o novela corta). Habiendo dicho esto, esta es una lectura rápida, esta noveleta no llega a las 200 páginas.
La historia que te cuenta es ciencia ficción pura con personajes por los cuales es fácil sentir aprecio debido a las situaciones por las que viven esto a pesar de que no es posible profundizar tanto en las historias personales o el pasado de cada uno. Si este libro comete un pecado, creo que sería ese, me quede con ganas de más. El libro refleja una realidad que no luce tan lejana considerando la situación y tecnologías de la actualidad, creo que en parte eso es lo que provoca que te enganches en la historia.
Lo recomendaría como un libro bastante amigable para quien es principiante en la lectura de ciencia ficción y está buscando algo corto para leer que tampoco sea una saga, pero eso no quiere decir que algún otro lector más experimentado no pueda disfrutarla. Creo que funciona bastante bien como una lectura rápida de fin de semana.

This is a novella (or short novel). That being said, it is a short read, this novella does not reach the 200 pages.
It tells a history of pure science fiction with characters for whom it is easy to feel fond to because of the situations they go through; even though it is not possible to explore as deeply into the background history of each one. In any case I think this is the one sin of this book, I wanted more. The book reflects a reality that does not seem so distant considering the current situation and technologies, I think that in part that is what gets you hooked while reading it.
I would recommend it as a very friendly book for someone who is a beginner in reading science fiction and is looking for something short to read that is not a saga either, but that does not mean that some other more experienced reader cannot enjoy it. I think it works pretty well as a quick weekend read.

This book makes you feel a thousand emotions as well as being written in a masterful way. It touches topics such as identity, love, society and human nature, all from the devastating reality of a blindness pandemic. What would happen if one day you simply go blind? Would we keep our empathy? Would we help others? These questions are the ones Saramago tries to answer in this novel.

OK let's talk about this one and I got to be honest, I read this because of... drum rolls... you guessed NETFLIX, so, I watched the first two episode of the series and I got exited then proceeded to buy the ebook for my Kindle and started reading right away.
The book has a good start but it rapidly became (in my humble opinion) extremely predictable and repetitive, the plot circles around all the way to the end, I may also say that the book presents quite a lot of romance clichés, also did not find any of the characters relatable; to top that we have the famous SCENE, yes dear reader you know what I'm talking about. Therefore, I give it one-star rating.

Muy bien, hablemos de este libro, seré completamente honesta, lo leí porque...redobles de tambores ... adivinaste ¡la serie de NETFLIX!, vi los dos primeros episodios de la serie, me emocioné y luego procedí a comprar el libro electrónico para mi Kindle e inmediatamente comencé a leer.
El libro tiene un buen comienzo, pero rápidamente se volvió (en mi humilde opinión) extremadamente predecible y repetitivo, la trama da vueltas y vueltas hasta que llegas al final del libro, también puedo decir que el libro presenta bastantes clichés románticos y en mi caso particular no me fue posible identificarme o simplemente simpatizar con ninguno de los personajes y como cereza del pastel tenemos la famosa ESCENA, sí querido lector, tú sabes de que escena estoy hablando. Por lo tanto, le doy una calificación de una estrella.
I was curious to read this shorts histories since they are inspired on Truman's memories from childhood and I must say that that they didn't disappoint, you can feel the magic that a child's eyes can hold since the narrator for this memories is Buddy (seven-year-old boy). It was perfect to get into the Christmas's spirit.
Rating: 4.5 only because this are short histories.
It is definitely a difficult reading that I cannot say that I enjoyed in the literal sense of the word, however, I believe that sometimes strong books that reflect the reality that hundreds of people live are necessary; in that sense the stories of people like Tara, who are survivors, are of great value. Tara's perspective can help many people understand their own quest for peace and independence, even if that independence and peace involves distancing ourselves from our own family.
Note: If you are sensitive to verbal and/or physical violence, this book may not be for you.
Es en definitiva una lectura difícil que no puedo decir que disfruté en el sentido literal de la palabra, sin embargo, creo que en ocasiones lecturas fuertes que reflejen la realidad que viven cientos de personas son necesarias; en ese sentido las historias de gente como Tara, que son sobrevivientes, guardan gran valor. La perspectiva de Tara puede ayudar a muchas personas a entender su propia búsqueda de paz e independencia, aunque esa independencia y paz conlleve alejarse de nuestra propia familia. Nota: Si eres una persona sensible a temas de violencia verbal y/o física tal vez no sea la lectura para ti.
I do understand that this saga/books may seem problematic and I will be the first to acknowledge that, however that topic has been through fully discussed, so ...
I did really, truly loved this book, I felt like a teenager all over again and this book adds another dimension the whole history and saga, in a certain sense the saga it's not truly completed until you read this one book, It felt as this one book pulls all the saga together.
This short history is not what you see in the cult movie (The Re-Animator, 1985), I think loosely based upon this history will fit the description better. If you want a short and spooky history this one is for you, it gave me the chills.

Hace poco (unas tres semanas) descubrí que la película “Macario” está basada en el libro homónimo de B. Traven, así que corrí a comprar el dichoso libro al que le llamaría más bien historia corta. La película es mi favorita del cine mexicano y es tradición en mi casa el verla en día de muertos. A pesar de que la historia es bien conocida no puedo hacer mas que disfrutarla, se a convertido en un clásico mexicano.
I LOVE Edward Gorey; this has been a recent discovery to me.
I'm not going to say anything about the history because I don't want to give anything away (it is really short so it's better to just read it without details). I just want to say that if you like creepy stuff and creepy little histories, E. Gorey is your man.
