3.25* Very black mirror. I also related to a lot of Eartha's finding herself moments/panic moments as a freshly bisexual woman. I made me feel more normal.
I debated for some time whether i would rate this memoir at all as it almost seems wrong to rate Matty's raw and honest self reflection on his terrible struggle with addiction. This story itself gains 5 stars from me. However, i am dropping a star due to the at times repetitive and confusing formatting of this novel. This is more a critique to the editor I suppose. The interludes often had me unable to follow the timeline and i found that difficult to overcome leading me to take a little more time to get through this. Nonetheless a heartbreaking and powerful read.
4.5* this hooked me and i had no clue what was going on until the plot twist. unfortunately the plot twist didnt hit quite as shockingly as id hoped but still a great read
2.75* If u were ever curious to know what its like in the mind of a mildly depressed, slightly annoying, very ADHD, 16 year old boy then read this book. If not, don't bother.
This was quite literally just a long winded internal monologue/diary entry. I could not tell you the point of this book (is there one?) Still once i wrapped my head around the fact that i was simply reading the internal thoughts of this sad lonely boy I enjoyed it enough.
3.25* the thriller side to this was sooooo good but the fantasy side was confusing and the insta love romance just wasnt it... will probably still read the next one for the thriller aspect tho my heart was racing
3.5*
Honestly this author does not write mysteries or thrillers and it frustrates me that these are tagged as such. All the books ive read by this author are utterly character based contemporary fiction with very small twists. This was one of her better novels.
This love story told backwards is heartbreaking and beautifully written. I do wish it went a little deeper on some of the issues that were touched on so it does lose a star for that reason. Highly recommend either way
Even better than the first book. The plot twists just kept coming!!! Jameson Hawthorne has my heart. I cant wait for the third instalment ahh
3.5* I enjoyed the pacing but found it slightly predictable at times. I think my expectations were a bit too high
3.5
I think this book built a love for the characters and potentially is more to set up the next one as honestly not a lot happened? yet i still enjoyed it
This was sooo much better than RW&RB. Very cute mystery romance read. Gave me very much Paper Towns meets PLL without the murder.
Such a diverse range of characters in the middle of their coming of age moments. Loved seeing that growth as each individual character slowly discovers themselves.
This book is absolutely unexpected!! A story about love between friends, platonic soulmates. The plot twist i never saw coming. I just wish the chapters were dated to know exactly where we were in the timeline, I constantly felt myself wondering how many days until ~that~ day. Definitely recommend as a short read that still makes you feel everything!
Super interesting and educational. Found some essay's to be harder to follow but that may be a writing style thing personal to me. Would 100% still recommend
If you don't focus on the unrealistic side to the plot this book is so phenomenally compelling and important especially with what has happened in America in the past 24 hours.
2 stars still feels generous for this book. It was just boring??? I loved the idea but the execution was just not it. I couldn't connect to the characters and the plot was lacking. This is honestly a miss for me.
The Taylor Swift references won me over immediately but this whole book was adorable. Teared up more times than i can count.
