My thoughts
Cover: Masculinity flows from the cover. A great pose and strong white/grey wings with cool scenery in the background
Book: Authors are people. People who pen down books.A lot of those are awesome books. Some writers become celebrity in the book world for ex J.K Rowling and Stephenie Meyer .Hollywood celebs are people. A couple of their books have appeared on bookshelves in stores. Some on YA shelves. A lot of readers treat celeb fiction like the plague. I agree some look like trash for example snooki's Jersey Shore fairy tale-esque book written by a ghostwriter. I'm honest to say that i'm weary and hesitant of the Kardashians' YA dystopian out next year. But ,there is a huge BUT people can write great to amazing books. No matter their background. This written down spark, idea, story is one of them.
the 1st time I heard of Im City it drew me in
1st reason: there is a male point of view2nd : a murder mystery 3th angels
Imagine a world were we idolize Angels. They don't star in movies or tv shows/ They protect us from harm for a prize.Only a select few are under there protection, the mega rich. And every one want a piece of that pie. There are lotteries for protection or shows that are a equivalent of survivor to secure an angel. LA , the HQ. This is Angel City.Jackson Godspeed , our main man is days away to take his place in the ranks of the prestigious Guardians. But horrible things happen. Torn bloody angel wings are deposited on the walk of fame stars of their owners.A murder is on the loose and trough circumstances he meets Maddy. One of the few people not obsessed with the glamour and glitz of the angels, maybe the only girl in Angel City. Will they find the murder before Jackson is next on the chopping block?
I loved how Scott Speer re-imagined LA.It was fun seeing everything angel-fied ranging from ANN(Angel News Network) to Angels Weekly.Very enjoyable after you get used to it. The use of 3th person in multiple (3) point of views was a great method to see a bigger picture at the very end.You get to see how all the pieces fell in to place but still some curiosities left open for the sequel.
Maddy and Jacks are from two different worlds and differ immensely but make each other stronger in the end. I loved how Maddy was herself and not in too the Angel craze but disliked that she had preconceived notions but changed trough out the novel. They are living breathing creatures with emotions. In all the fame and splendor that can make people change, Jacks is level headed,a normal teen ,kind and cares for her. They fell in love at the very end.Real conversations were repeatedly seen and no long stretches of staring at each other was in sight.
The the person that i suspected was complete utter bs when it was revealed who the murderer was. Very scary and bleak at that very moment.Intense, intense intense.
Immortal city had romance, action, suspense and had a detective feel to it. A lot more than your typical run of the mill paranormal/angel book. A lot of though went it too it and the book that surprised the most this year. I can't wait for march to read book two.
i really liked it. it was not mind blowing but better than i expected . and I'm glad that the romance is slowly building
good book

Cover:One of the pretties out there.Thank goodness no girl in dress one.A bit symbolic if you ask me.A dainty fragile life[the butterfly] above a rough bizarre ruthless dangerous earth has become.
Book: I requested This one because of its cover[I the color scheme.]It was good but not a complete hit for me.
A normal day, normal life, normal earth. But than it happened, The Detonations and everything changed.A perilous blistered earth emerged.Pressia found safety in the Dome but not many were that lucky.Things merged, fused, humanity has altered. If you can call it human.Partrige resides there , out side and one of them. There meeting, a pure and a wretch will change everything.
the deathy houses all fell downthe deathy houses all fell downthe sick souls wander'round and ‘roundwatch out! they drag you underground.
Thanks to netgalley and to y Grand Central Publishing approving request

cover: it is not my all time favorite. but it has appeal.
book: found it in my monthly galley grab. looked it up on goodreads. the synopsis looked interesting.
we get thrown in a hero awarding ceremony. Gideon Thrall is being awarded ,our non romantic leading male[that's new] and suddenly runs away. Yep that's the beginning
Tessa is in awe of him, his heroism. But secrets of the war, of him come to light and things change. with the result that they see everything and each other different. Tessa & Gideon meet Dekaterina, short for Dek along the way, the last of the trio.
this is an action packed for a relatively short dystopian
the actual bad guy is actually not a human or bad! what a surprise for me at least. It was the brains. I kinda liked ‘it' very much.
Dek, Tessa and Gideon transitioned from almost strangers to basically best friends. i'd say Gideon had the most character development.
Tessa acted stupid and moody at times. she's no sue ann , heck no but no katniss either.the other thing it was so short.
I've enjoyed my very first dystopian novel. just the tip of the iceberg. I bet there are better books out there, more thought provoking. this was pretty decent. looking forward to reading the creme DE la creme of the dystopian genre. signing out.lol
I amost wanted to give up on summer knight. I lost interest after marathon reading the Dresden files. I also forgot things about this series after the long break. The tor re-read blog posts helped a lot. I think that I'm more a fan of the undead , ghouls and shifters than the Fae in this series.
The burn out and not loving the Fae as much resulted in a 3 star rating. A highlight is the stronger bond between Harry and Murphy
3.5/5
It was enjoyable but not mind blowing. I've seen from fans that the Dresden books get better and I can't wait to start the others. If you want an amazing narrator pick this one up.
Its really good and loved this book. I'm glad maggie stiefvater recomended it
loved R how he was the narrator and male protagonist. the story is from a zombie's pov and loved it because never read a story over zombies not as monsters but as social and what happining in there being, beings
Marion???s characters are far from perfect. Their imperfections give them a realness This is one zombie story that won???t give you nightmares. It leaves you instead thinking about that thing called life, there zombies not living and cheering for a monster.
His journey begins with no memory only a hunger for the flesh of survivors and the rare feelings that come as he feeds on the energy, emotion and memory trapped inside that what zombies long for the human brain. But a particular meal, this meal, the mind of a once-idealist, now cynical young man named Perry, awakens something within R. He makes the first moral choice of his undeath and saves Perry???s girlfriend Julie.
one of my fav scenes is where R is in the camp or place were the human's live , R put make up on to fool the guards and they believed he was alive and his clan were acting like they were chasing him, R drank liquor with Julie, and needs to go to the toilet because he 's gotta pee, he is thinking was happening, this has not happened before
read the dutch version / liked the recipes though the book. but got lost in the understainding of the story line. a bit 4 gettable 4 me. the great niece is the narrator. thats my opinion. tastes differ
My thoughts
Expectations : Reading from a male???s perspective is always fun. I heard of this book after I had just become part of the Goodreads community. . I love fictional family feuds and the inclusion of witches makes it all the better. I have had it on my wish list for a while and I immediately said yes when a kind popular blogger said she could gift me witch eyes and its sequel.
Cover : I???m not normally a fan of floating heads. But this one isn???t that bad. The Thorpe mansion is shown on the cover with an edge of the belle dam forest behind it. And the picture of the guy is really cute. I???m weird, I know.
Book : Braden hasn???t had the typical normal childhood. He lives with his uncle and exercises loads of magical spells and etc daily. And he is seen as the weird kid with glasses. He has eyes than can unravel spells, memories and emotions etched in places. A splitting headache havocs his mind every time he uses his ??????gift??????. He left his uncle in the middle of the night to goes to Belle Dam. The place where has a decent clue of his heritage and family and his uncle would stop him if he knew. Braden meets this mysterious and interesting good looking brown shaggy haired guy and finds outs about the feud. Among all the people he meets there is someone who???s more interested than usual in this feud and could be the Big Bad. Finding out who could be difficult because everyone seems suspicious. And will the new love that sprung with Braden and the handsome stranger suffer or bloom in this seemingly across the surface calm town.
Let me start with the positives :
So let the negatives follow. Sometimes you have to take good with the bad. Writing a book is easier said than done and publishing one is even more so. And I congratulate Mister Tracey for that. Quite some people liked or loved witch eyes. I???m not saying it is badly written but nothing really happened in the 1st book of the trilogy. It was like a 2nd title in a series with second book syndrome. The last 3 or 4 chapters were fast paced and somewhat intense but it could not rejuvenate my interest for witch eyes after I got bored with it. I often finish a book no matter how boring.
2. Braden Thorne was an okay leading male, but he was whining quite a lot at moments in this book and being bad tempered and rude when stuff didn???t work out. He was awfully rude to his dad and uncle He redeemed himself a bit in the end. They try to be good parental figures.
3. I could not care that much for the rest of the characters. Expect for Riley, a perky school reporter, and Braden???s uncle. They were just characters for the sake of being characters that where needed for the plot.
4. The romance was like any other typical paranormal YA romance. A girl and a guy meet somewhere. The guy is so mysterious and they fall and care for in each other in an instant. But in this case it???s two dudes. It was forced and to make it more entertaining make it forbidden. Yep, that???s the whole romantic plotline. Trey was just another pretty boy who was busy being chivalrous by protecting Braden from harm. The only positive were the cute/hot kiss scenes.
That???s all I have to say. My experience with Witch eyes was nothing special but if you want to, read it. Go ahead and give it a try. I don???t know if I would have given book two a try if I did not have it already. If witch eyes was better I would not have given it a 3 out 5.
I really loved how language and linguistic. was used for the frame if the story. I'm exited for book 2
loved re reading this book. shiver was a 5/5 this was a 5++/5. i realy loved this book. so lookin 4ward to [b:Forever 11090324 Forever Maggie Stiefvater http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nogmA1N8L.SL75.jpg 6961290]
i gave it 4 stars because i dont really like the time delemma
1 of the books of the series, i read it in the order lewis wrote it
takes place right after the exciting finish of voyauge of the dawntreader(book 3 in that order)
the cousin of edmund, susan , peter and there sister has a main role in this book and a clasmate
the first scene takes place at the schoolground. he talks about Narnia , she does not believe it and something happens and the cousin is not there anymore. And ASlan the mighty lion appears 2 the girl
and sets them on a Quest. In this book evrything is the time diffrence is at it again ita almost a 100 years later. they meet a new evil or a old evil , that ‘s 4v you all 2 decide
the folowing book in this series in that order is the boy and his horse
note: read all the seven books in 3 days , a weekend
this is actually the first book in chronologically order. but love readin it as the 6 th book how c.s lewis wrote it
The story was enough to continue further but i just did not feel connected with the main character. I liked how Aids is highlighted in the 80 or 90 . i Think it the setting is from that time period
Liked the main character but the pacing was to slow for me and I didn't connect with the romance and Pike as a love interest
A heartfelt, charming, and funny memoir about growing up Jewish, life as a hooker - actor - artist, and living in 80/90s Gay NYC and LA. It's about not feeling ashamed to love, have sex if you want to, and being true with yourself. We as queer men should focus more on what's inside, the hotness outside is a bonus. I'll most likely re-read Pevsner's memoir in a few years when I'm in my thirties
