He always write some deeper meaning in his books, and here it’s not the exception. The human story is great and terrible, and probably his most serious book.
I don’t want to spoil the story. If you know Grady Hendrix and read the title, you know there will be witches in the story or something supernatural. But that’s not important and not that great in this particular book of him; it’s the human drama, the story of these girls, this kids facing a horrible age were being a woman was really hard, worst if you were a girl, a minor with no power and no one fighting for you.
That human drama, the amazing portrayal of the 1970s and the loneliness these girls had felt, powerless in a world of men where old conservative women seemed to fight for support that conservative south. That’s an amazing story, I feel what the protagonist felt. I went to bed feeling alone and angry for these girls. That’s why I recommend this book, not his best, but very good nevertheless.
Great adventure! I loved it. It was great to come back to a stand-alone story. Highly recommend it if you are looking for one book, one story, and not too long, especially if you are looking for something short, fun, and simple before sinking your teeth into another big saga.
¡Gran aventura! Me encantó.
Too much criticism on this book, and I'm not really understand why!
I loved this book, It's a beautiful story with great characters and if you like fantasy and want something beautiful and inspiring, this is it.
If you're a diehard fanatic of King's origins you may not be completely sold on it. But, from a fantasy lover, this book is beautiful and I strongly recommend to people who want fantasy and hope together, you'll find it in Fairy Tale by Stephen King.
Para los amantes de Hellblazer, muy recomendado, me encantó!
Perfect for the hellblazer fans. I loved it!
I approach this book with some skepticism; not knowing exactly what I would find in it, more than a sort of a queer love story, but if was more, much, much more!
I'd loved this book, the characters are so likable. The story seems so real, knowing the lives of many queer Hollywood stars who had to hide their sexuality, their love ones, their true selves; because it was taboo and, in a very real sense, forbidden. Also the existence this people had to go in order to protect their identity. If it was hard for the rich and famous, I can only imagine how much worse had it been for regular people.
Highly recommended!!
I liked it a lot, but I have to say that I struggle to finish it also. It's good, I know Joe was reading westerns while he was writing this, and it shows. I really liked the ending but not every character was as memorable as other books. It was a fitting ending for one is the famous characters in the saga.
Overall good, far from his best work though.
