I didn't get a lot from this book but it did confirm my hunch that the ability to focus deeply is a practiced skill, and I enjoyed some of the practical advice on ways to achieve it.

I didn't think I'd find this book so fascinating but the author has a way of putting you in the context of 1850's London and letting the story of the outbreak unfold around you. Very well done and an interesting read.

This was a fun story. I especially like the more math detailed chapters on number theory and cryptography basis.

Super great review of statistics with examples to illustrate the concepts. This book makes me want to read his other books even though I'm not as interested in the topics – he does such a well done job of explaining the ideas.

I enjoyed the history of how all the math advances came about but it was a bit too flowery for me and I skipped all the proofs which I wasn't interested in. I enjoyed this but struggled to find the history amid the extravagance.

I finished this book wishing the majority of it was similar to the last pages about buckling the 100 mile race and less about the author's struggle with drug addiction.

A fun short story, somewhat predictable end. But I enjoyed the ideas of simulations to achieve new discoveries.

For me this started out super interesting with lots of good stories but I got bogged down near the end with the stories of hunting pig and mushrooms. Overall I liked the concept of the book and the effort to make a meal that one harvests themselves and enjoyed reading this.

I took my time reading this one, knowing that book 3 is not available yet. I enjoyed dipping into it from time to time, the characters felt real, and their problems to solve interesting. I'm very much looking forward to book 3 to see how this all wraps up.

Easy and fun to read. I was hoping for more of types of content as in the preface (the thought provoking (to me) timezones on Mars) but was still very engaged and entertained throughout.

I'm abandoning this book series. It was a bit too outlandish to me with seemingly every sci-fi topic imaginable thrown into the story. I enjoyed the first 50 or so pages but then it just got too crazy. On to other books...
