This is not just a cool fantasy book with many fantastic creatures but with an original main plot and storyline. Furthermore, the book is part of a series called Here There Be Dragons, this books being the first of them. The main characters are... C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and , three great writers, very well-known today. According to this book, their later inspiration for writing Narnia, LOTR and other fantasy books came from the fantasy world they discovered taking part in a great adventure, well described in this book.
A wonderful tale for young (and older!) readers filled with bravery, peril and treacherous escapes. Reminiscent of The Wolves of Willoughby Chase for a modern audience. Steampunk thrills aplenty!
Wow! What a great book - it feels as if every single word she says it's exactly what my thoughts have been for a while regarding my own life. Her writing skills and her way of sharing things are so great, and the subject of the book & the stories are all well woven together. A book that makes you think about your life and motivates you to draw the line and shift your way of living.
I gave 5 stars to this book. However some of the stories in this collection David Copperfield created based on different author's stories are not that good. On the other hand, the stories I liked were really enjoyable and that's why I gave it 5 stars. It's an interesting book. I recommend some of the stories in it.
This was on of the first ‘more serious' books I read when I was a kid - I loved the adventure and sometimes thrilling moments in it. However, I think that maybe if I'd read it again now, I would remove if from my favorites list ‘cause over the years my tastes in reading have changed. That's why I don't read it again - at least not soon - to keep it amongst my favorites :))
This has reminded me so much of Mr. Selfridge (the tv series), which I also enjoyed a lot. If you enjoy adventure and mystery, this book is for you!
I feel like what T.D. Jakes has shared in this book is far more valuable than the way he wrote it, however, I can't not share how difficult I found it to read this book until the end — Maybe it's just me not being used to his “voice”, or certain stories that he might have shared in previous sermons, but I just didn't find it easy to read. Once again, however, the contents, the stories, the lessons, the practical advice — all of these were simply inspiring and educational in a very down-to-earth way. If you're looking for a book to help you pursue your destiny, T.D. Jake's book will definitely be the one.
I liked it at first, because I loved the idea of old England and magic and all of that, but it soon became a little difficult to enjoy due to so many footnotes and too many side explanations that made the story tedious.
I found this book to be a little “cheap and shallow”. Eleven chapters of very minimally thoughtful stories and anecdotes... Nothing new, actually - not bringing anything fresh to the collection of “habit” books out there.
Oh, gosh. I wasted my time. I should've known no one can take Agatha Christie's main character and write a novel. I mean the plot wasn't that bad, but Catchpool, the other detective in the book is simply an idiot. He is a detective after all and all he does is shiver when he sees dead bodies or refuse to think outside of the box for a moment. He doesn't examine the crime scene etc.
If you only buy one health book this year make it this one. It's educational, funny and a breeze to read. Get to grips with your gut!
This must be one of the best fiction audiobooks I've ever listened to - both the story and the performance are incredibly good and funny. I've laughed out loud so many times, especially because Susan Denaker, the narrator, does such a great job at using an old and posh lady's voice when speaking as the dragon, Miss Drake. Almost reminds me of Dame Maggie Smith's voice from Downton Abbey. The story is filled with magic and the characters are interesting and have strong personalities, well-described places (but not to the point of boring). Absolutely charming and delightful book!
It was a really great book when it comes to its topics and the way it was written (audiobook, in my case), but I couldn't relate all the time as it was focused too much on women and their everyday struggles as moms, wives etc. If I had known that it's written for women, before buying it, I might have not bought it... and missed a lot of good stuff that men can learn and apply as well. So that's why I'm giving it 5 stars.
I received this book from the author herself for a review.
I have to be honest: I postponed reading it because I thought “This book sounds girlish”. However, as soon as I finished the first chapter I realized this book had what it takes to keep me reading: fast paced action, well defined characters, a good dose of mystery. I just hope “Cassidy Jones and the Secret Formula” becomes a successful series in teh future, since I'd love to read about what would happen next with Cassidy and the other characters.
The author - Elise Stokes - is a very good writer and I think her next books will be a great success. Though I'm already in college (and done with teenage books) I found this book appropriate for all ages. Somehow Elise perfectly managed to create realistic characters in her book and I think this is the result of her many life experiences with her own children. So whether you're a parent or a youth, you must read this book!
I won't go into details about the book's story ‘cause you can read about it elsewhere, but I do want to recommend “Cassidy Jones and the Secret Formula” by Elise Stokes to both male and female readers who are looking for adventure & fast-paced action!
I enjoyed reading a book like this one, because i found out many new conspiracies and theories. Even though I don't believe all of them, I have a better knowledge on conspirational theories and conspiracies.
This book was very interesting and enjoyable. A whole society of tiny people living in a tree, having no idea that anything exists beyond their world.
Useful, practical and up-to-date with today's trends & tech! Offers practical, step-by-step guidance to help you launch your product / yourself / your services, or whatever it is that you're trying to share and/or sell.
This book belongs in my list of all-time favorites. For me it was the definition of “can't put it down until done reading it”. It raises big questions about life, trust, time and purpose (themes that always seem to resonate with me anyhow), and overall I just found it to be unique and haunting. I'm sure I'll be thinking about it for a long time to come.
I liked the book because it helped me a lot and it showed me many things I had to change in my life and things I'm still working on. It's very useful and true with many good examples from Joyce's life. If you want to find out how to renew your thinking and change your mentality, you should definitely read this book!
This was a quick read and an interesting book. It had me thinking about what habits I could change, and how I could leverage the ideas with my work. It is interesting how many things we do each day without thinking about them and this book makes you conscious of them. I liked it!
I think it is one of the most realistic and wonderful books that carries you in the past, in the “dark age” of America. A hypocrite religion, true love and a woman of power and ambition for her family and future. The Scarlet Letter is just wonderful!
