Enjoyed this immensely! Very atmospheric and eery, I was on the edge of my seat. My only disappointment was that the big reveal was told more than shown.
Holly Jackson never misses!!!
I loved this book. At times it did feel quite repetitive and I also felt that the grand reveal at the end of the book felt kind of info dump-y. Despite this, I had a great time reading it and definitely recommend if you are a fan of Jackson's previous work or any YA thrillers :)
I know I've given this 4 stars, but that's likely to change. My head's all over the place - this book was far from perfect, but at the end of the day it just made me so happy being back in the world of Harry Potter.
This was my first Bridget Collins book and I was very impressed by her descriptive and vivid writing style.
The first half of this book was quite slow and I had trouble getting into it, which is the reason this was not a 4 stars for me. The dual POV did add to the difficulty getting into this book however it was absolutely instrumental in explaining why and what was occurring. Once I passed the halfway mark of the book it really picked up — the ending felt super fast paced and really caught my attention!
Overall I did enjoy this book — if you like a slow build, gothic historical novel, this is definitely for you!
Thank you to Harper Collins and Bridget Collins for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love this book beyond words. Definitely recommend it!
Edit: about to re-read this to hopefully get me out of my reading slump!
Thank you to Harper Collins Australia for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was your classic YA romance novel.
I did enjoy this book, however I felt the first half was quite repetitive like how did lou not even consider that isabel liked her for 200 pages when people had literally commented on it . I quite disliked Isabel for a large portion of the book, as she made unlikeable decisions with little explanation??? Her dad and brother did not seem to think the same way as her so some exploration into why she held classist views and the her family dynamic would have been great.
I loved the ADHD rep in this book! It was refreshing to read a queer YA book where the queerness of the characters is not an issue of contention amongst friends and families but is embraced! That sort of positive representation is absolutely needed in the young adult space 🥰
If you are looking for a quick, easy
romance with some important messages scattered throughout, this is definitely the book for you!
I had such a fun time reading this book! This is definitely one for the Emily Henry fans — there was romance but also a beautiful story revolving around grief and family.
I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. Thank you to Hachette Australia for sending me an ARC of this book.
I just finished and I don't have words right now. Review to come but I'm confident this will be the next booktok IT book and deservingly so
I absolutely adored this! Jolene was the perfect main character for this type of book — she did things that made you want to jump into the book and knock some sense into her but you also love her and want to see her grow.
This book was funny, emotional, heartwarming and an all around stunning read. A very promising debut, I can't wait to read more by Natalie Sue!
Thank you to Harper Collins for providing me with an early review copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Really enjoyed this book overall but the footnotes were so irritating and Daisy just needs to speak to people
I read Coco Mellors previous book Cleopatra and Frankenstein earlier this year and did not particularly enjoy it, but I was impressed with her writing style so wanted to give her new novel a go. And thank goodness I did!!
I really loved this book. I'm endlessly impressed by the way in which Mellors slips between character POVs in such a realistic way, with every character feeling distinctive and the book still flowing beautifully.
This book looks at grief, addiction and family in such a raw, honest way and I adored it. The characters are often times dislikable but not to the extent where I did not care about them. I am thoroughly impressed and definitely will be giving Coco Mellors future work a read!
Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for providing me an ARC of this book. I am under no obligation to post this review and all thoughts are my own.
I gave this book 4.5 stars when I read it 5 years ago but am now bumping it down to a 3.75 (3.5 simply feels too low). I love this book and the portrayal of mental illness. The main reason for lowering the review is that the feminism in the book very much lacks intersectionality. I didn't realise it when I was 15, but in hindsight a broader lens when discussing feminist issues would have made this book all the more impactful. Regardless it was enjoyable and the characters are so loveable!
