05/02/2022: this one also had the paranormal plot twist, which makes me wonder - is that the new direction fantasy is going in?
the story was okay. too many descriptions, found the first person “chosen one”, i'm-not-like-other-girls story arc boring though i'm sorry .. idt the f.m.c. stood out in any way?? mmc was another “bad boy but not really” type (if i recall)their interactions were entertaining enough when it happened .... yenno, the story could've been cut waaayyy down. also, i appreciate the author wanting to add a layer of complexity to the world, but it just made things confusing tbh ..

believable politicking and romance and magic/fantasy elements and, best of all, beautifully written, my goodness
the side characters were as engaging as the protagonists and it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the story unfolds, super excited! ♡

but it was actually pretty fun! had an entertaining plot
if i recall... mcs were 26/27? or 30 (since i put it in NA after finishing it, probably ~ 26/27)

i read quite a bit of this one actually, like 40%? but got kinda bored. the different lore was really cool tho!
tried several times to read it but couldn't get into it :( cover's so nice tho

ohhhh my gosh - this was such a good book
contemporary YA, well-developed characters, interesting storyline. very grey.
idr the ending but overall, it was bittersweet yet a satisfying conclusion/read
