I don't know why I waited so long to read this. I haven't read the other two books in the series but I'm going to now. I didn't know the author was an Aussie until I read the authors note and I didn't know I was missing out on reading a good story set in Australia. I loved all the Australian references and that it felt normal.
The main character, Ellie, has ADHD, and I love this representation. I reported to Ellie's struggles with her neurodivergent brain, and how those who loved her didn't shame her but loved her for it.
Such a great RH/shifter/fated mates romance
“Lisa Renee Jones introduces a gripping narrative in the first part of Damion and Alana's story, ‘Protege King.' The plot unfolds with a dynamic mix of suspense, surprises, and a myriad of events that kept me thoroughly engaged. As the story reached its climax, a jaw-dropping cliffhanger on the final page left me stunned, eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in the series. LRJ's storytelling prowess shines through, crafting an intricate and must-read tale that skillfully weaves together romance and suspense, making it a compelling recommendation for fans of the genre.”
While the plot was easy to predict at times, the story was sill highly enjoyable. One of the better YA sci fi/fantasy books I've read.
Can't wait to read the next one
