my review somehow became a comment on an empty review because they fired all the product managers at Goodreads I guess. Book is excellent.
3.5, not what I thought I was getting. Also discrete and discreet are two very different things.
As someone who has long hated The Great Gatsby (or my alternate title of They're All Terrible People), this was the book we should have been assigned to read as a companion.
I thought this was just going to be a fun romcom but wow, it got unexpectedly deep. I really appreciated the unflinching look at mental illness and how that impacts the people around you.
It was a solid B- until the last couple of chapters, which were total trash. The twist was stupid and didn't make sense with the motivation of the characters at all.
It took me a month to read this book because I had to not fling myself into a body of water, Ophelia-style, every couple of chapters. Maybe I'll revisit after I raise $2m.
Do you know how cool it is that we can now prove so many things about dinosaurs that we just guessed on for decades? The 6 year old in me really enjoyed this.
It was hard to get through the first half of this book. The last few chapters made up for it.
This was really uncomfortable to read, and for that reason, I recommend everyone do so.
