Fuck, I absolutely loved this book.
The way the world is set up, explained is just fantastic and the characters are real and feel real. The way the author uses texts and textbooks and evidence Sloanne reads to explain more and give the reader more thoughts is incredible and it made me excited to figure out this mystery. When Sloanna steppped into the other world it gave me a new rush of mystery and excitement, especially with Mox in the picture and how real and painful her break-up with Matt turned out to be.
And the conclusion was hard and painful. And I especially loved Sloanne. She was not good nor bad. She was her own complex person who sometimes didn't make the right choice and I loved that about her, absolutely loved it.
When she collided the two worlds it just felt incredible. She had done something brave and selfish and yet it was something bad and hurtful to some.
It was an interesting read
the first 3 books are a really satisfying trilogy with a good plot, good pacing and a nice ending. But there are 3 books left so wtf are those about
I LOVED THIS SERIES BUT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THIS BOOK???
Rainbow Rowell really said “let's all forget wayward son ever happened.” because the mention the vampires MAYBE twice and only after 300+ pages in.
THIS BOOK BARELY DOES ANYTHING FOR THE PLOT WE'VE BEEN INTRODUCED AND INSTEAD GIVES US SOMETHING ENTIRELY NEW??
I mean it was a cool plot and it made sense for the characters BUT I AM SO LOST??
It just idk wasn't what I hoped?
At first I found it to be a slow book compared to Six of Crows, but in the end it turned out spectacular.
Every moment I found awkward or slow or anything else than good was perished in the ending chapters.
It definitely made the entire book worth it and made me definitive on giving this book a 5 star review as well.
I loved the characters as usual, their personalities and their motives. Their strengths and their weaknesses.
I did find Matthias death to be unnecessary.
He was alive and strong in one sentence and then dead in the next and it didn't give me a sad feeling like with most character deaths. It just happened and there was no reason for it at all. It didn't bring Matthias story to an end. Nor did it give Nina anything except loss and the feeling of ‘I have to return to Fjerda now' and it didn't bring their story together to an end/ closure as well. At least thats how I felt about it, but Matthias was never my favourite character.
I overall loved the book, the worldbuilding and all the plots and turnarounds. You never know what to expect when you turn the page and all in all, I loved it.
What an absolutely gem of a book.
The writing style is comforting, and painful, and the way it is written makes me think of all the lives in the past and it makes me wonder, and look to the stars and just gaze upon them.
I found this book relatable in so so many ways. Addie and Henry, and many other characters in this book, have wishes and needs and pleads and each one of them is looking or asking for something and it ignites something in me.
When Addie LaRue says she wants to live in freedom, I thought “same” and how easily I would have fallen into that damn trap if this were all real. I long for freedom, for living without end.
When Henry says he feels all directions are pulling him and not one thing/direction/goal truly speaks to him, calls to him it is so utterly relatable. I don't want to choose to do one thing, I want to experience dozens or lifes in the time of one. I want to study and learn so many paths instead of just one.
My heart was going through the motion.
In a way this book is all story, no action but at the same time I felt as if I could barely breath while reading. It kept me on my toes, it kept me hooked throughout its pages and I am not sure how I can let this book and these characters go?
I just absolutely loved this book and damn I loved Luc with my whole heart. I think he was my favorite.
So so so good. The concept and worldbuilding is unique and amazing and just. I have no words. I am in love with all of this
I read this book in less than 72 hours and just wow.
I love all of the characters in this book. They're different and interesting. I love Cat's hotheadedness and Kaliis' struggles with himself due to a civil war that divides his people. I love how this crew is diverse - which makes sense cause its sci-fi, but even included a disabled character who is more than just a disability and whose personality I thoroughly enjoyed.
I love Zila and I hope we see more of her next book, cause I loved her small and few chapters where I definitely related to her. Her unique earrings make me want to be her friend.
Scarlet is a very interesting character. She is strong and smart and yet there's no shame when she has had a lot of boyfriends and a good flirting vocabulary - and I love it.
Tyler is in no way boring, but at the start he's just a boy with perfect grades. He is loveable and good and smart.
And lastly Aurora, who is so fragile and so confused to be in this world of spacetravel. She and Kaliis are frankly so so so good together (but I had wished for a lgbt+ romance in this book, not necessarily with Aurora or Kaliis tho but just any) and I rooted for them along the way.
Cat's death was both necessary and unnecessary to me. For the characters it was vital in the understanding of what was going on (and I needed the ‘explanation') but as she spent a lot of the book angry and hotheaded I didn't necessarily get a connection to her though I loved her and will definitely miss her in the other book.
Onto plot, I'm honestly still the tiniest bit lost but it's so so so good. The buildup and the reveal and as I read about the reveal of Ra'haam it already grosses me out. The chapter from Cat as she is sucked up in Ra'haam made everything connect for me and I think it's a good way to explain it a bit more and make people understand what's going on.
I can't wait to read Aurora Burning.
revised reviewI actually liked this book a lot better the new time around. I liked the characters and the way the story progressed. I love how we already see some “corruption” where starclan is so intent in their prophecies midnight makes the six cats take the mountain passage so Feathertail can die for the tribe. I also liked the Tribe a bit more this time, but am still wondering why they're painted so conservative compared to the Clans. I also still don't understand how Feathertail died, because the fall couldn't have been that far? Anyway, I loved the part where all the cats are stuck in a shelter. And Cody is so great tho. Such a refreshing book, until the point where the clans started arguing about everything again... revised on 10 aug 2023
First of all,
I did not like Sophia that much. For someone living under a tyrant she spoke her doubts and troubles out loud too much and didn't understand when other people didn't want to cause of their fear. I mean, Sophia girl they are just trynna survive chill?
But overall I get why Sophia is that way: this way and the way the message is written in this book it's IMPOSSIBLE to miss the message and symbolism in this book, making it a very direct book.
Overall I enjoyed this book a lot, but had a few issues wirh the pacing overall (especially nearing the end and the end chapter itself) and the growth between Sophia and Constance since for me it was a lil quick but it was a cute sapphic romance we definitely need to see more in books and I think it's a cute good read with an important message.
Be a light in the dark.
Personally, I don't like poetry.
But this book was harsh and honest and made me feel so many things in a short amount of time.
I think it takes a lot of strenght and bravery to publish a book like this, to be so unapologetically yourself you manage to write a book about all the unfairness of this world.
It is painful and strange. It aches my heart and I hope that she is doing okay
After this book I feel the need to change all my stars on the other books bc none of them were as good as this one.
No useless bantering.
Brambleclaw POV.
Interesting characters with interesting dilemma's and lots of foreboding and foretelling that really give you the ‘OH THATS WHY...' sense if you are already familiar with the series ‘Power of Three' that follows TNP.
It made me quite excited for what's to come.
So all in all,
I loved it and can't wait to stary Power of Three!
This book was an awesome ending to a fantastic series.
For a fantasy series the ending was quite bold, taking away the magic instead of fixing the problem of the book. In this case I would say it would be pretty impossible to actually get rid of The Decay and I truly did like this ending for the world of Snow Like Ashes! It gives all of them a fresh start. It gives all of the kingdoms a startover where they can focus on the actual wellbeing of their country instead of blasting magic on people in the way the monarchs want.
I actually don't have much more to say, but I've grown attached to Meira and Ceridwen and I actually started to like Mather, even tho he still isn't my favorite.
if the erins would write their characters more convincingly it would be one of the best books in their entire series but Violetpaw joins like 4 groups based on who she likes besf at the moment and instantly develops loyalty to them
I liked this book but it was so frustrating as well.
Onewhisker is a pushover.
Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw keep on fighting about Hawkfrost bc they are both too proud to make up and truly talk about whatever is going on between them.
Crowfeather & Leafpool are babies tho i luv them
I loved this one, but like into the wild I have to get it into the story.
Brambleclaw and Leafpaw are our new narrator, which takes some getting used to, and the events have had a timeskip since the darkest hour.
4 cats are chosen for a journey, though 6 take it, and takk to Midnight.
Though I understand the necessity to make them feel like one and thus convince the clans to leave I wonder why this message couldn't have been given by starclan to the medicine cats? Surely the leaders would have listened to them, but I quite loved reading about the journals and characters in other clans.
Besides, I absolutely love Squirrelpaw
how was this scheme any better than just straight up saying “hi I accidentally got pregnant bc i thought I would leave forever”
