This is a fast mystery. One minute you are mired in family drama and then bam you are in a murder mystery. Mind you this story is only 63 pages, but Marguerite Ashton knows how to pack the pages.
There are several difficult topics ranging from alcoholism within the family, teen pregnancy, off-page rape from a family member, and a murder. Whew.
Shadowed Seats is filled with darkness even when the mystery is solved. Ashton really knows how to hook a reader. This book is the first in the “Oliana Mercer” series and I'm interested in seeing where Ashton leads us next.

Fight For It is an uplifting romance about dealing with and not so much overcoming PTSD, but getting through it with found family.
Fight For It is the first book in the “Palm Cove” series and I can't wait for the next one. This one had body positivity, self-empowerment, mental health issues, and of course romance. Sign me up for the next one.

Whew this is a long book. I think it felt really long for me because Radclyffe Hall is very descriptive in their writing. Plus, Hall writes every detail of Stephen's life. This story makes for an interesting read for Stephen's journey, but I could have done without all of the fluff in it.
I am sorry to say that I did not connect with the characters in this book. You might, so please do not take my opinion as anything other than a reader who did not make a connection.
I got this book from my library. I love my local library and you should check out yours too. Request LGBTQ+ books and they will stock them! #ebooksforall
I didn't guess the killer and that makes The Two-Faced Killer worth reading for just that fact alone.
I like the mystery. I really like Carlee. I hope Zach doesn't turn into a bad guy (chuckle). I can't wait to read the next one.

Acing The Game is an angsty story about people falling in love, wanting to fall in love, exploring their sexuality, and really trying to understand what their partner needs. I wanted to knock their heads together most of the time because Shep and Elm are people who are readers and educators and they did not do their homework before getting into this mess.
Acing the Game has a better than average origin story with Shep. For Shep alone, Acing is worth the read.

Mind trip. Eule Grey has once again put me in a completely different frame of mind and...I like it.
Grey also threw in some steam which I really liked (wink).
Bite Club is a quickie for Man Crush Monday. Gotta love when you get some heat, sweetness, and a twist all in one quick read.

Wow what a dilemma. Erin Clark and Laura Lovely take us on a wacky journey of falling in love with a person you have already broken up with. (chuckle). I think this is actually one premise I haven't read before.

This is available on Amazon Free. Thank you to Amazon and the author for making this available otherwise I could not have afford to read it. Thanks again!
Sibling rivalry is at its best in Soul Sucker. Kayla Maurais writes teen angst that kicks you in the gut no matter how old you are. Mind you this kind of merges between young adult and new adult genre due to the maturity level of Shea and Dash - never mind their occupation (chuckle).
Soul Sucker is a clean, diverse sibling sci-fi adventure. I had a great time reading it and if you like sci-fi antics then you will too.

Whew. Antonia and Camila have some amazing chemistry (chuckle). Johana Gavez has written a steamy enemies-to-lovers sports romance.
One of the things I like best about a Gavez novel is the blending of cultures in their stories. Each character usually teaches the other something and therefore I learn too. I cannot wait to read more of this series.

Reese Ryan keeps the romance hot in The Bad Boy Experiment.
Bad Boy is a quick read with heart. Renee is a single parent who loves her autistic son and wants to help him and others like him be happy in life by providing them with the opportunity to grow and be independent. Heck, I want to date Renee after hearing her plan.
Cole brings all of the heat and then some to this experiment. Whew, Renee watching him walk into a room or better yet out of it is memorable (chuckle).
If you want an escape from life, then Ryan gives it to you with this honey of a romance.

Spoiler Alert! There is no ending. Ashton gives us a horrific tale that could come right off of the front page. Trauma. Abuse. Isolation. Mental health issues surfacing. Then bam! The story spins and you don't know which end is up. I'm still trying to figure out fact from trauma.
Anyone who can do that is a must read. Kudos to Aston for Blind Sided.

The synopsis implies that the pregnancy happens right away and it doesn't, which really works for me. Mycah and Achilles have great chemistry and similar trust issues. There is quite a bit of information exchanged in their silly question game at the bar and a breaking of the ice that leads to the groundwork for their future relationship.
Secrets of a One Night Stand is a quick and sexy romance that I didn't want to be over.

Pandora Miles and Daisy Landish give us a quick read. Two people stuck at an airport waiting for a delayed plane while their lives are in a period of transition. To pass the time they play get-to-know you games and fall in love in the process.
There is lots of flirtation and sweetness. It's fast, happy, and not a bad way to spend time at an airport if you have to be there (chuckle - I am never this lucky).

I love visiting the Braided Crop Ranch. My experience there is usually with a little bit more BDSM than Hot Blood showcases, but it doesn't change the heat that it brings.
A.E. Lister writes an awesome prequel to the series with Hot Blood - even though this is the fourth book of the series.
I gobbled Hot Blood up in one reading and I can't wait for the next one. Lister is one of my automatic “yes please” authors. If you like a little pain with your pleasure even if only on the sidelines, then this one's for you.

Someone who sees vampires everywhere I can totally appreciate being a Buffy fan. Meeting someone with the same affliction would be a dream come true and Eule Grey makes this happen for Dan.
Dan Henshaw and the Undeniable Force is a quick holiday romance between two neurodiverse people who happen to meet at work. It's cute, sweet, and everything you want for a holiday romance. I love Dan and John together and you will too. If you need a quick dose of holiday happiness, then I recommend adding this one to your holiday reading list. (I read this after the Christmas holiday and I still really loved it.)

Katy Fouks gives us a quick read with a New Year's and a new relationship. Queerplatonic reads as an introduction story as to what aromance is and how it works between two people. Explaining that both parties do not have to be queer to be in the relationship and that communication is key.
This is a short story so there is no time to really get to know the characters or feel a connection. It's like watching an episode of a new show and you want to know what happens next. I'm interested in seeing where and how Fouks continues this series, so I guess we'll be seeing what's next for Valentine's Day.
I love the unequivocal support that Frankie gets from their family. There is no discussion about Frankie wanting a suit versus the three dresses laid out for them to choose from. Frankie keeps their wishes to themself, but there is a friendly dog to save the day. The family makes Frankie suit and helps them dress so that when they look in the mirror at themselves they are happy. Simple yet so definitely needed for kids.
Hayley Wells' illustration keeps the mood light with a bright yellow and no overtones of darkness or negativity. Kat Patrick keeps the message clear and easy for kids and everyone else. I love it.

Autumn's Deceit changes everything for Aiden Parrish's team and what a shake-up indeed.
Mary Stone keeps the series fresh with new twists and a psychological terror which will last long after the final page. Stone keeps us in the loop as to what the killer is thinking, but knowing where it all originates is the real mystery. I will say that this is a psychological killer who thinks long term. It is soooo good.

I had to listen to this story a few times before I got through it. Now I don't know if it was because this is one of the first stories I heard on audio and I was still working out the kinks of listening to books or because of the story.
The mystery is okay. I'm not a huge fan of Lauren's brother putting his girlfriend ahead of his sister - code (y'all know how I feel about breaking codes). I will say that Rachel Howzell Hall kept you guessing as to what was going to happen to a guest or Lauren next (chuckle).
Whew. Endpapers is a book I had to read in silence and without interruptions. I tried to read a couple of times before I figured out that this is a dedicated read. Once I shut-out the outside noise, Dawn's story hooked me.
Endpapers is complicated, but so is this life we are trying to live. Kelly showcases these swings, hypocrisies, messages, and stories beautifully.

This is a young adult story filled with angst about a family breaking apart while a young girl is trying to separate herself from them. Dianne Beck intertwines diversity and autism prejudices with Carol's hope to be popular and seen. Mixed in are verses from the Bible, violence, and verbal abuse from classmates. This is at times an uncomfortable read, but a worthwhile one.

I really wanted to love this story. I think if Blake had saved this story and showed their growth and progress through Iris' story and maybe someone else's and then paired them it would seem like a healthy relationship with a potential for a happily-ever-after.

Ebony LaDelle mixes in friendship, romance, and family with ease. I loved Love Radio. I loved hearing about Prince's love of music and how Black women need to take their own identity back. The hair show rocks. I wish I could have been there in person. LaDelle made me feel it. Then again, LaDelle made me feel everything in Love Radio.
