See allThe hopes I had for this book has both left me fulfilled and the opposite—heartwarming yet enlivened by so many questions left unanswered. I searched for anwers in the last pages for the connection of the title to tie it all together but I have not to found anything probable to use. Perhaps that encapsulates the entirety of this book; you can't just summarize it in a few words or sentences for it bears so much pain, experience, love and longing for what is and what cannot be anymore that ties it to the reality of the real world. The characters felt full of life for me, despite all the circumstances they found themselves in, and I believe that the emotions this book imparted rang truer than the lessons it shared.
Almost half the edition I own is an extensive analysis of George Sand's life, which I found very enlightening and intriguing, and I loved it as much as the lightheartedness of the novel itself. It seemed like I was transported back to my earlier teenage years where I could curl up with a book and feel most hopeful for my favorite characters' romance. The book and the characters resonated with me well and I just loved reading every bit of it.
