I really wanted to like this book and with how quickly I read it you would think I did. But... the ending felt extremely rushed and looking back on the plot it honestly felt like nothing really happened? 700 pages with nothing much to show for it at the end. I'm giving it 3 stars because I did enjoy the setting, the magic system, and the spice.
Typical Highlands romance with a supernatural twist. It wasn't horrible, but certainly nothing to write home about. It's a '90s novel that shows its age for sure. Was a fun read, but I don't see myself picking it up for a reread in the future.
