5 stars.
+10 stars for Vikas Adam Narration.
PS: I have listened to this on Audible audiobook.
Ritualist is the first book that I read in LitRPG genre.
What is LitRPG? -> well Literary Role Playing Game
Basically, a character or (s) go into the game and play the game in the book.
So What is ritualist about?
The simple plot is Joe is a 24 years injured(Paralyzed) army member whose wife divorced him for the same reason. So when he gets a chance to walk and run again even it is in a game he takes it.
The game is MMORPG, yep you heard me Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Users go into the game at the basic level and they have to complete quests to increase the skills and levels. The game world that author designed is pretty amazing.
You have an AI (surprise) that takes care of everything.
You have humans, wolfman, wolf shaman(yep that's right witches of wolves). You have mages and deities same like ancient times. You can choose a deity and become his disciple.
So our lovely Joe chooses his deity (calls him Tatum) because all of the population thinks of him as evil (But he is a god of unknown knowledge).
Because of his physical abilities, after some tests, he gets to start at below basic level (with the stamina of a child). He has to fake his class to cleric (actual is ritualist) as a rule of the class and complete quests in order to increase his skills.
He meets with Guards of Humans and heals some of them and become friends with them. He then joins a guild, and go to kill wolfman and rabbits (Yes evil rabbits).
Guild characters also pretty amazing.
Leader A10, Guild officer Tiona, Tank Dillan, Archer, and low-quality VR player "guess", every character is amazing in its own way.
Joe's goal is to complete the game.
Of course, this book doesn't end the game yet. But the book ending is epic.
All this awesomeness thanks to Narrator Vikas Adam.
Wonderful narration!
The modulation of each and every character is amazing.
Especially Tiona's voice (It was so awesome).
Looking forward to the next book.
And Jumping to other books by Vikas Adam.
