Before I get into this review I want to thank the author for providing me with an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I've read the first 2 books in this series and loved both of them so when the opportunity came up to read this one I could't say no. This is the 3rd book in the Romancing the Ruins series. The first book was a second chance romance, the second was a friends to lovers and this one was enemies to lovers. Honestly I love all of those tropes so this series is perfect for me. I'm still loving the archeological aspect of the books. I find it fascinating although I will say this one was less about the archeological aspect and more about the tours of the places but we still get some history lessons. This book is about Emilia and TJ and they are both academic rivals. We get to slowly see them come to care for each other throughout the book. My only complaints about this book is that the romance took too long to happen and when it did happen we didn't get enough of it. Just like with the previous books though the tension was palpable and I loved the banter between them. Overall another great addition to this series.

I joined a readlong on StoryGraph that was created by ashybear02. This is another one that I saw making the rounds and I was really interested in reading it so it was perfect timing. Destiny and I buddy read this one unfortunately she didn't like it however I loved it. Rowan our MMC is a hard pill to swallow. He's so rude to everyone and he can really piss you off at times. Zahra on the other hand is a ray of sunshine and she brought the humor. Each character grows some throughout the book with the biggest changes coming from Rowan. He's not perfect by no means but he does come to see the error of his ways. I guess because I knew that he was eventually going to have this big revelation by the end his horrid behavior didn't bother me as much. I definitely want to continue on with this series.

Inheritance: A Visual Poem

I was only able to get the audiobook of this so I missed out on the visual aspect but the poem itself was really good. This poem is short yet it delivers a powerful message. The main focus is about the struggles of natural hair however she also manages to tackle other very prevalent topics as well. How she manages to say so much in so few words/pages is amazing. I would definitely like to listen to this one again while following along so I can get the full impact with the visuals and Elizabeth's narration.

I had been seeing this book making the rounds when Destiny asked me if I would be interested in buddy reading it. Of course I said yes even though at that point I still hadn't looked into it. I am so glad I agreed to read it because I loved it. I was curious how a serial killer romance would work but it totally did. I loved this unique take on a romance. It was cute, funny and insane in the best way. Honestly I am at a loss for words. I can't think of what to say about it besides I loved it and you should read it but first read the trigger warnings which the author includes at the beginning of the book. I've already preordered the next book.

Mislaid in Parts Half-Known

I read Every Heart a Doorway for the first time last year and I wrote a review for it which you can read here. I did a reread of it this year and read the rest of the books that are currently out including the short stories. I read them back to back so they kind of all got scrambled in my brain so I thought I would just write a review on the series as a whole. These books are weird but in the best way. You definitely have to suspend disbelief but if you can do that I guarantee you will have fun with this series. I love how many worlds we get to learn about in this series. Some sound delightful and some no so much. I loved the characters some more than others of course. These are all novella length. For the most part I felt like we got a full story and I wasn't left feeling like I was missing something but at the same time I wanted more from each of the stories. Not because I felt like I was missing something I just wanted to know more about the characters and what happened after the ending of the book. We do get that answer for some of the characters in proceeding books so that was good. I've enjoyed each of the stories equally. I don't think I could pick a favorite but I do have favorite characters some of which I am still waiting on stories for so I hope those are coming. Overall I had fun reading these with Destiny and I can't wait for the next release.

I read the first book in this series last month and really enjoyed it so I was really looking forward to reading this one. Destiny and I once again set a schedule to help hold us accountable but we did read it with several other people in a discord group that we are both a part of.  I don't really have a whole lot to say about this one. As you can tell from my rating I did enjoy it however just like with the first book this one took a little to long for things to start happening but once it did it was a ride however it kind of felt like I was reading the same thing again just with different adults. Also at the end of the first book there was a reveal about a couple of characters that I didn't see coming but absolutely loved and I was looking forward to more about them in this book however I hated where the author took them. Overall I did still enjoy it and I want to read the next book when it is released later this year.

House of Flame and Shadow

This was a highly anticipated release for this year and as you can tell by my rating it didn't disappoint. Was this a favorite from Sarah J. Maas? No. Did I love it non the less? Absolutely!! This is action packed from the get go and it keeps that momentum all throughout the book. This one didn't have the emotional gut punch that some of her other books have but it still had me on the edge of my seat. I've seen where a lot of people have been disappointed by this book but for me it was everything I wanted. I did have a couple issues with what certain characters did because it was so pointless but overall another great instalment. I cannot wait for her next release.

2.5 stars

I can't remember who brought this book to my attention a while ago but I saved it on Everand and I thought it would be a perfect read for the 29 in 29 challenge I did this month. I buddy read this with Destiny and I suggest you read her review or anyone else's for that matter because I seem to have an unpopular opinion. I'm pretty new to the horror genre and I am still learning what I like and what I don't like and unfortunately this one didn't work for me. This was weird. I wasn't expecting it to be written in the cats POV so that threw me off at first and I just think that horror books that have deeper meanings behind them aren't for me. This isn't the first time this has been the case for me.

The Deal of a Lifetime

This is only my 2nd Fredrik Backman book. Going into this one you are going to be confused at first but by the end everything is clear. This is a very short read and some of the pages just have images on them. I feel like this one needed to be longer for me to get the emotional gut punch that I assume was intended. I just didn't connect to the story or the characters enough to get emotional over the outcome. That said though I did still like it I just needed more from it.

I decided to take a break from King starting in January but when I was reminded about this short story I had to read it for my 29 in 29 challenge. Like I said this is a short quick read and I liked it. I liked the premise of this one and it started off great but then it ended to quickly and easily and I wanted more from it. This could have been a great full length story

I read The Risk last year but I decided to reread it before continuing on in the series this year just so things were fresh in my mind when jumping into the second book. Destiny and I had planned to buddy read the entire series as part of our 29 in 29 challenge we are attempting this month but after reading the first book she decided to DNF the series but I continued on with them.

This is a 5 book series and each of the books are less than 200 pages and can easily be read in one sitting. I was instantly hooked after reading book one and very intrigued by the premise. I don't think I've ever read a book where there is a romance between and FBI agent and a serial killer. I really needed to know how this could possibly work out.

From the first book you can tell that something happened to Lana when she was younger. We don't know the full extent but we get a good idea of what it was. It isn't until the 4th and 5th book where we find out the true extent of everything that happened. The author doesn't hold back on the details about what happened so please if you are someone who is easily triggered look into the triggers of this series before picking it up.

As I mentioned this is a romance between an FBI agent and a serial killer. Obviously Logan isn't aware that Lana is the killer he's been looking for. The romance is very insta love. Logan didn't start bothering me until the second book and from there on he did something in each of the books that annoyed me and pissed me off. I was most intrigued by finding out how a romance between a serial killer and an FBI agent could work and lets just say by the end I wasn't disappointed.

You definitely have to suspend disbelief while reading these books but it made for a fun read. Each book ends on a cliffhanger which was so frustrating for someone who hates cliffhangers. The final book was actually my favorite of all 5 books but as a whole the series get a 4 star rating from me.

I went into this book with high expectations and it didn't disappoint. I was intrigued by the premise of this book. It's a Four Horsemen romance. I wasn't sure how that would work going into it but I wanted to find out. I loved following these characters and watching each of them grow. This story at it's core is about accepting someone flaws and all. This is a slow burn enemies to lovers romance. I was immediately sucked into this story from the beginning. I do have to say that about halfway through it started to drag a little bit for me because it was getting a bit repetitive but overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to picking up the next one.

You definitely have to suspend disbelief while reading these books but it made for a fun read. Each book ends on a cliffhanger which was so frustrating for someone who hates cliffhangers. The final book was actually my favorite of all 5 books but as a whole the series get a 4 star rating from me.
