at first I liked artemis, then something didn't sit right with me. I like the story. a small moon community that can't escape the corporate capitalist hellscape even on a different celestial body. but in reality, the characters are shallow and one dimensional. Jazz is, at best, a half baked attempt at a satirical male character troupe as a female, but in a much real sense, it's a spike tv show but with boob. which, if you haven't heard, is a annoyingly immature trait, no matter the presenting gender. this book adds nothing beyond some science words, and a decent story concept that drags along with our one dimensional band of begrudgingly law abiding citizens. we have smart guy who wants to know if jazz has had sex, but not in a creepy way, yet he can't stop being creepy anyway? I don't get it. then we have your boyfriend was gay and I fucked him and now we are in love so it's okay guy. all their conversations surround this past interaction, no deeper exploration of him outside of this one occurrence. he has no other personality outside of this. then we jazz, a boring, horned up woman. she's cool and smart and totally casual about sex. and brings it up as much as everyone else who also brings it up all the time. Which also means much more often than any rational adult. it's a hilarious punchline. get it, woman talk about sex! HAHAHAHAH AGAJAGSJ. i have blasted through this book, not because it's so intriguing, but because if I don't, I will be left with a incomplete hole in my
soul. so i'm motivated to blast through this half baked attempt at a story to be done.
Otherwise, it's really not a bad story. It's a decent quick read that is a decently fun romp. I would recommend you two dozen other much better sci-fi books before this one.
