I don't love non-fiction, but this was a really great read. Specifically the first 150 pages had me.
If you're going to write the first book AGAIN, from the MMC POV, then say that's what it is. Last 10% is the only new bit of story moving forward. 🫠
I really get the sense that the author would write great short stories.
Also. The review on the cover reads “Deeply romantic and fabulously strange” and I would only add, creepy in a good way — I also wouldn't have thought it romantic, but do completely agree with the statement.
This book has aged poorly, but I stuck it out because it was for a women's financial literacy book club! (Ironic because of the problematic sexism throughout the book that makes it clear it was written for men by a man). Gleaned a few useful tips, but other than that, it was not a great read.
Up and down with all my emotions. Not sure I liked it, then so into it. Felt very similar in tone to her other books I've read.
Loved this book. The characters are so real and raw. Brit Bennett weaves tales through time and relationships like no other.
Not my usual genre, but loved the story and flaws of the characters. I'm also just such a sucker for an Irish author 🍀
Re-read to complete the trifecta after watching the new Netflix series and the movie (for the 100th time) and IT'S STILL JUST AS GOOD AS I REMEMBERED
