See allThe idea of space elevators is absolutely marvelous... The fact that almost all the concepts in the 3rd Millennium take their names from various widely-known 2nd millennium scientists made it seem like a scientific history novel of some kind + the sci-fi part that's like ketchup.
In short - Arthur Clarke is a GENIUS... and my guess is that there's nobody quite like him...
I can understand why so many people recommend this novel. Did Michelangelo change the world? I think he very much did, marching along with giants like Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael (all of them also mentioned in the novel) he was THE revolutionist, a personality worthy of attention.
A well written biography with a lot of historical facts that one simply cannot disregard when studying whatever it is painting, sculpture and even architecture of the renaissance period.
I hope in the near future I will read more of Irving Stone, for now he's got my attention. 5 stars
One of the best books I ever read.
“Uncle Bob” once again shows tremendous insight on a variety of subjects.
A book full of good practices that should not be missed by any professional programmer or someone from a technical background searching to dive into the field.
FANTASTIC NOVEL!
By far, one of the best dystopian novels I have ever read.
The work has a somewhat similar touch to Anthem by Ayn Rand but at the same time very rich and unique.
Definitely in my top 10 recommendations
To be honest, at first I couldn't get it. The book started very dull, a tall tale that meant to be somehow intelligent and funny but not delivering.
But it gets better. Near the middle and especially at the end. At the end it all makes sense. It stops being so boring and starts being, perhaps what the author intended it to be. A reflection upon ourselves and our existence as species. And I know getting this right is difficult.
So, leaving aside the cheap humor and the poor way of juggling ingenuity, the book is fine. And I would go as far as saying that it's something I would recommend, but that's my romantic side talking :P.
So, for me, it started with 1 and ended with 4 stars.
Cheers.
